The British airline, Virgin Atlantic, is back in hiring mode. And this time, they’re heading East. The carrier has announced a significant recruitment push as it gears up for new long-haul routes into South East Asia, with over 200 new roles expected across cabin crew, ground staff, and support operations. It’s part of a broader strategic shift as Virgin looks to tap into the booming demand for travel to Asia and diversify beyond its traditional US-heavy network.
What’s on Offer?
The airline is seeking individuals who embody its signature brand of “customer magic.” They’re after team players with personality, who think genuine warmth is more critical than robotic service.
Roles are being advertised primarily at the Heathrow Airport, with some support functions based at the Crawley head office. Initial positions are focused on:
- Cabin crew (multiple intakes over the coming months)
- Customer service and airport ground roles
- Engineering support for long-haul fleet maintenance
- Commercial and operations roles tied to network growth
The airline is also offering various benefits. Perks include staff travel, a strong wellbeing package, and the chance to be part of a business that (for once) still feels like it has a bit of soul.
New Routes Incoming
The carrier is rumoured to be eyeing new destinations in Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, and potentially a return to Malaysia (where it does codeshare with airlines that serve Malaysia). While not all routes are confirmed, CEO Shai Weiss has been clear about one thing: Asia is where the next big opportunity lies. “With the US market stabilising, we see enormous potential in connecting the UK to key cities in South East Asia, for both leisure and business travellers,” he said at a recent press event.

What Sets Virgin Apart
Unlike some of the larger carriers, Virgin’s culture remains a big selling point. New joiners often highlight the sense of community and the freedom to be themselves. This is a rarity in the ultra-regimented world of commercial aviation.
One recent cabin crew intake graduate said: “It’s not just a job — it feels like a family here. They want you to bring your personality on board.” The current recruitment plan is focused on tapping emerging markets and forging strategic partnerships, while the airline continues to offer unparalleled service and connectivity across continents.
