Engineering Manager 

Bahrain

The Engineering Manager will lead the Engineering department responsible for Continued Airworthiness (CAMO), Technical Services, Airline Maintenance, Technical Records and the Technical Library.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the role will provide technical leadership, manage engineering projects and ensure the fleet remains safe, compliant and operationally efficient.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Continued Airworthiness

  • Develop, implement and manage aircraft, engine and component maintenance programmes in line with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage reliability programmes, including Powerplant Health Monitoring, trend monitoring and corrective recommendations.

  • Review and implement FAA Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs) and other regulatory requirements.

  • Manage compliance with upcoming aircraft, avionics and systems mandates.

  • Conduct and manage airworthiness reviews to ensure continued compliance with applicable Part M requirements.

  • Ensure continued compliance with aircraft and engine lease engineering requirements.

  • Manage aircraft modifications, major repairs and fleet standardisation.

  • Coordinate aircraft induction, redelivery and lease returns.

  • Maintain and update Weight & Balance and Electrical Load Analysis data.

  • Provide technical support for aircraft troubleshooting and recurring technical issues.


Maintenance Planning & Technical Services

  • Work with the Planning team to develop and manage base maintenance plans, including C-checks.

  • Develop RFQs, contracts and maintenance requirements with MROs and vendors.

  • Plan short-, medium- and long-term engine and APU shop visits and secure vendor slots.

  • Support engine, APU and nacelle tender processes.

  • Liaise with OEMs and vendors regarding technical support, repair agreements and high-value rotables.

  • Ensure timely planning and implementation of major modifications and repairs.

  • Support Production and Planning teams with technical issues and aircraft recovery plans during AOGs and technical delays.

  • Ensure fleet technical status is clearly communicated and support On-Time Performance targets.


Technical Records & Documentation

  • Oversee the Technical Records team, ensuring aircraft records are accurately and promptly updated within the TRAX/ERP system.

  • Ensure active aircraft records are correctly maintained.

  • Ensure mandatory technical reports are completed and submitted.

  • Oversee technical records through a Digital Airline Records Management Solution.

  • Manage and coordinate revisions to company manuals and ensure procedures are followed.

  • Maintain and control the company’s technical library, including distribution of revisions and advisory information.


Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Act as Engineering representative within the Engineering Safety Action Group (ESAG).

  • Take corrective action following quality audits and identified compliance issues.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and manufacturer requirements.

  • Make timely, safety-focused decisions while balancing operational and commercial requirements.


People Management

  • Define team structures, responsibilities, performance targets and objectives.

  • Recruit and onboard new team members in line with company procedures.

  • Lead, develop and motivate the Engineering team to achieve performance targets.

  • Identify training and development needs.

  • Support performance reviews and career development.

  • Promote effective communication, teamwork and collaboration across departments.


Other Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects as required.

  • Monitor departmental EBIT and On-Time Performance results.

  • Develop and implement action plans to improve employee engagement.

  • Deputise for the Technical Director when required.


Candidate Requirements

  • 10+ years' relevant aircraft maintenance experience.

  • 5+ years' Technical Services / Engineering experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • EASA, FAA, BCAA or ICAO Part-66 licence preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance, engineering and continued airworthiness.

  • Experience analysing and troubleshooting aircraft systems and engines.

  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, technical records and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to analyse technical and operational information and make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise work effectively.

  • Commercial awareness, including an understanding of cost, profitability and business performance.

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Results-driven approach with the ability to set and achieve clear objectives.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Flight Operations, Procurement and other departments.
