2Excel Aviation Ltd is an industry leader in specialised and innovative solutions for aviation’s most complex challenges and our success is based on the talented and experienced people that make up our workforce. Our Special Missions division delivers specialist aviation services to Government and industry customers.

From January 2025 we will start delivering a Fixed-Wing Search and Rescue (SAR) service, which will operate 24/7/365 out of Shannon Airport, Ireland, on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager to join our growing team to help us deliver this new and exciting contract at Shannon. Responsible to the Accountable Manager, this Form 4 position will be responsible for the management, development and implementation of the safety management system (SMS) and the compliance monitoring system (CMS) in accordance with EASA Continuing Airworthiness and Air Operations Regulations. Typical tasks will include:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety and compliance management system in accordance with relevant aviation regulations and standards, that fosters a ‘Just Culture’ and has objectives, targets and performance indicators to continually improve standards.
  • Facilitate fatigue and hazard identification, risk assessment and management.
  • Manage the occurrence reporting system and lead investigations into safety incidents, and non-compliance issues, ensuring that corrective and preventative actions are implemented as necessary.
  • Facilitate effective company Management of Change processes.
  • Develop the audit checklists and implement an audit plan that covers both internal and external audit requirements.
  • Ensure that corrective actions to non-conformances are processed and monitor their implementation.
  • Analyse data to identify trends and inform decision making.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to operational teams.
  • Conduct safety training and ensure that all staff receive safety training appropriate to the level of their responsibility.
  • Ensure relevant communications (e.g. safety bulletins) are initiated.
  • Keep the Accountable Manager and other Nominated Postholders informed on all relevant safety and compliance trends and issues.
  • Keep all SMS and CMS documentation and records up to date.
  • Maintain continuous liaison with the Irish Aviation Authority with respect to: Safety, Compliance, Regulatory, Approval and Organisational issues.
  • Hold responsibility as the Company Health and Safety Officer and ensure that all safety, not just aviation safety, forms part of the SMS.
  • Establish and develop company risk registers and continually monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks.

This exciting and rewarding role will allow the right individual to progress within 2Excel.

About You:

You’ll already be working in a Safety and/or Compliance role within the aviation industry and have sound knowledge of EASA regulations, underpinned by the relevant engineering/aeronautical technical qualifications and appropriate training. You might be working at a more junior level ready to take on the challenge of a Form 4 role or already have held/hold a Form 4 and be looking for a new challenge in a dynamic company.

You will have a strong drive for promoting compliance, safety and just culture. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, able to work as part of a small team as well as work well on your own initiative. You’ll be computer literate and not afraid to use IT to help increase efficiency and information.

We can only accept applications from individuals who have the right to work in Ireland.

We offer:

As a new operation in Ireland, you’ll be empowered to own this role and make it your own, with the ability to develop as our footprint develops in Ireland. You’ll also benefit from the support of our UK based operation (where we already deliver the UK Fixed Wing SAR contract), including our UK AOC postholders and operational teams.

The operational base will be Shannon Airport but we can offer Hybrid Working, typically allowing 2 days per week to be worked from home/another location.

We will also offer you a competitive salary along with a generous holiday allowance, private health care and a company pension.
