Reports to: Production Manager (or designee) 

Salary: €50,000

Location: Atlantic Aviation Group, Shannon Airport, Shannon, Co Clare

Duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

General Responsibility

The Avionics Crew Leader is responsible for crew performance and development. This includes, but is not limited to, individual performance, competence assessment, training, motivation, performance and discipline. The Avionics Crew Leader will also be responsible for:

  • Take full responsibility and ownership of their assigned work area/zone for the duration of the check
  • Compliance with the organisation policies and procedures detailed in the Atlantic Aviation Group MOE and supporting manuals
  • Adhere to safety and deactivation and/or reactivation requirements, complying with the AAT Safety policy at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining your assigned work area/ zone to the highest 5S standard ensuring it is clean and safe at all times.
  • If particular policies, legislation or standards apply to your work area/ zone, ensure this is clearly communicated to your team in a timely manner and appropriately monitored and enforced.
  • Complying with the Atlantic Aviation Group internal and mandatory reporting requirements
  • Complying with the work interruption and handover procedures.
  • Participate in developing a schedule for the zone of responsibility in association with the Avionics Production Controller, Planner/ Scheduler and other employees.
  • Allocate work and monitor to ensure work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner to the Atlantic Aviation Group standard within the scheduled milestones and within budget.
  • Familiarise and adhere to contract parameters with regard to cost and hours agreed
  • Agree non-routine hours with inspection staff, production management and the customer representative where required.
  • Monitor the paperwork of the check to ensure it is completed in a timely and accurate manner to the agreed schedule.
  • Communicate all relevant issues regarding the above with the Project Leader and Production Manager.
  • Account for all material requests and for tool usage, care and control.
  • Attend production progress; pre and post check meetings as required
  • Monitor all time and attendance re start, finish and break times and annual leave approval.
  • Actively support the overall management of the check to ensure all targets are met
  • Where necessary, escalate any performance or behavioural issues to HR and Production Management regards a member of avionics crew.
  • Carry out all necessary 5s audits
  • Update and present the visual management boards to crew daily.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and preventive maintenance of aircraft, components and equipment (when required).
  • Completes any other reasonable tasks or duties as requested by the Production Management team.



Leading the team 

  • The Avionics Crew Leader should provide excellent leadership to their team to help people perform at their best, through motivating and developing them to achieve high performance
  • Communicate necessary levels of performance to the teams and motivate and lead the teams to excellent performance - follow-up promptly and address performance issues within the team
  • Lead the team in improving on safety, health and environment issues
  • Ensure the teams comply with all necessary technical and work quality
  • Mentor, develop and understand the training needs for each member of your crew.
  • Provide feedback on your team members individual performance for their performance reviews
  • Lead the avionics team in improving work methods and performance with respect to reliability, costs, and quality and be clear about expectations for quality, accuracy, timeliness of work expected from your team
  • Be clear about what authority/decision-making is delegated to individuals in your team and providing autonomy to do so
  • Identify training requirements in conjunction with the training department using the TNA system for your team
  • Develop teamwork and autonomy within the avionics Team
  • Demonstrate the AAG core values



Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years leadership experience
  • Knowledge of the Aviation Regulations (EASA and FAA) is desirable
  • Proficient in use of MSOffice applications
  • Detail oriented with exceptional time management and multi-tasking ability
  • Excellent coordinating and organizational skills
  • Must be able to perform well under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and meet aggressive schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills,
  • teambuilding skills, and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial
  • relationships.
  • Works closely with project team members to resolve problems with assigned projects
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to manage and lead with respect and encouragement – recognising key contributions and adhering to our “Employee Orientated “culture

Typical Working Conditions

  • Primarily based in Shannon however travel is a requirement of the role
  • PPE is provided by Atlantic Aviation Group and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and overtime, may be required
  • Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements
