Aircraft Mechanic I - Al Asad, Iraq

The Aircraft Mechanic I (CH-47) troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.

• Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.

• Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.

• Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.

• Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.

• Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.

• Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum of Two (3) years aviation experience, (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and (2) years on the CH-47 (MDS), all experience must be within the last Six (6) years OR hold a valid FAA A&P license.

• FAA A&P Certificate preferred.

• Must be in possession of a U.S. Passport with 2.5 years of validity remaining at the time of hire and be able to travel internationally.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust NAC-I. Note: US Citizenship is required for Public Trust NAC-I at this work location.

• Able to clear CENTCOM MOD Physicals requirement for deployment. (Attend CRC) 

• Must be able to obtain Iraq visa.

Knowledge & Skills

• General knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.

• Basic knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

• General knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

• Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.

• Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

• Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

• Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

• Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.

• Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.

• Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

• Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.

• May work in maintenance shop or outside.

• Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

• May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.

• May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.

• Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.

• Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.

• May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.
