Junior Aircraft Technician

Perform assigned maintenance tasks on Aircraft / Aircraft components as directed by supervising Engineer or Approval Holder by adhering to safety & quality standards and Airworthiness authority requirements, thereby contributing to operational work requirements as a responsible, productive efficient team member.

Job accountabilities
  • Perform Testing/inspection/Trouble shooting/Repair/Modification/Overhaul on A/C components under the supervision of the Engineer / Approval Holder by using approved maintenance data, correct materials and tooling efficiently in order to maintain optimum productivity levels.
  • Communicate effectively with supervising staff in regard to the progress of tasks assigned and any findings, observations or anomalies, provide guidance, directions and give instructions to subordinates to carry out tasks and be responsible for the section duties in the absence of supervising staff
  • Maintain personal tool box inventory according to regulatory requirements and due care is taken in handling tools, equipment and associated spares to prevent damage and present the same to the next user in an acceptable condition.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in the work area and within the aircraft confines thereby aircraft safety is enhanced and a pleasant work environment is realized. Carryout any other duties assigned by the Sectional Engineer/Supervisor from time to time
  • At all times, comply with Company Safety Manual, Maintenance Organization Expositions (CAASL/EASA) and the Engineering Procedures Manual when performing duties. To reduce accidents, incidents and maintenance errors by adherence to procedures and responsible reporting to ensure safe operation of aircraft and working environment.
  • Responsible to ensure that basic and recurrent training requirements for MOE procedures, Human Factors, Air Legislation, Fuel Tank Safety (FTS), Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) & Safety Management System (SMS) are informed one month in advance to Manager Training & Standards for effective work execution.
  • Comply with safety procedures, regulations and standards by reporting and prevention of accidents, incidents, maintenance errors and hazards at all times to ensure safe operation of aircraft and working environment.
  • Support and contribute towards achieving department/divisional initiatives & priorities.


Requirements

6 passes in G.C.E. O/L (Local or London) including 4 Credit passes (or equivalent), with credits for Mathematics, Science and English in one sitting except the Credit Pass for English which may be obtained in any sitting

AND

Qualification in 2 methods up to Level 2 out of six (RT, MT, PT, UT, ET, TT)

AND

Successful completion of a course specified below:

a) A CAASL IS 147 or EASA Part 147 approved full-time basic aircraft maintenance course in category B1.1 or B2, conducted by a CAASL IS 147 or EASA Part 147 approved AMTO.

OR

b) A full-time basic aircraft maintenance course approved by the competent authority of an ICAO member state and conducted by an organization approved by such authority, in categories B1.1 or B2. If the categories defined by the member state are different, such courses may be accepted only after review of the course outline by SriLankan Engineering Quality.

OR

c) A full-time basic and advance aircraft maintenance course (related to the specific trade applied for) conducted by an Aeronautical Military school. Such course is accepted only after review of the course outline by SriLankan Engineering Quality.

OR

d) A CAASL IS 147 or EASA Part 147 approved full-time basic aircraft maintenance course in category B1.2 conducted by a CAASL IS 147 or EASA Part 147 approved AMTO and has followed a training (Theory and Practical) course to bridge the knowledge gap to Category B1.1 or B2 conducted by CAASL or EASA approved AMTO acceptable to SriLankan Airlines. Note: Above training course will be the difference between Category B1.1 or B2 with Category B1.2 syllabus as given in CAASL IS 66. The course will include both theory and practical elements.

OR

e) A full-time degree related to aviation disciplines

OR

2 years Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) experience in the field of NDT with qualification in 4 methods up to Level 2 out of six (RT, MT, PT, UT, ET, TT).

The upper age limit should be 50 years as at 05th May 2025, which is the closing date of the advertisement.
