The following NEW noninstructional vacancy is listed in Human Resources for the 2026-2027 school year. 

POSITION:                           Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic
LOCATION:                          Career & Technical Education 
HOURLY EMPLOYMENT:    Based on the needs of the aircraft/department 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred. 
(2) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Maintenance Part 43 Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate (A&P)  
(3) Satisfactory criminal background check 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS MAY INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 
(1) Inspection Authorization (IA) 
(2) Experience with a Diamond Katana or Piper Cherokee 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
(1) Mechanical knowledge of aircraft systems, tools, and maintenance practices 
(2) Engineering and technology understanding of mechanical devices and systems. 
(3) Mathematics and physics skills for calculations, diagnostics, and system analysis. 
(4) Attention to detail, problem solving, and strong workmanship. 
(5) Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and procedure manuals.  Follow directions and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 
(6) Knowledge of and ability to implement the skills necessary to complete industry certification 
(7) Ability to maintain physical requirements of position (listed below) 
(8) Ability to work effectively with students, peers, administrators, parents, and others 
(9) Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1)  SAFETY FIRST! Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials and facilities by maintaining a clean and orderly lab area.  
(2)  Ensure aircraft are well-maintained for flight instruction, including inspections, testing, repairing, and maintaining aircraft structures, systems, and engines to ensure safety, airworthiness, and compliance with regulations.  
(3)  Ensure all associated FAA logs and records remain current. Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as required by law and regulation or requested by the administration.  
(4)  Comply with all FAA and TSA regulations. 
(5)  Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance such as engine overhauls, lubrication, cleaning, and component replacements. 
(6)  Assemble, install, and modify aircraft components, including wings, fuselage, rigging, and hydraulic units. 
(7)  Perform inspections (annual, 100 hour) under supervision of a lead mechanic with inspection a authorization.  
(8 ) Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the administration, instructional staff, students, parents, and representatives of resource agencies within the community. 
(9)  Collaboratively partner with Administration and District Office for budget management. 
(10) Engage with local business and community partners to ensure CTE program remains relevant and future ready.  
(11) Attend required staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees. 
(12) Continue to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and professional growth experiences. 
(13) Protect confidentiality of records and information and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines. 
(14) Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s) 
  
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
