Volantes Technical Recruitment are seeking a Head of Crew Training for a fantastic client in dublin Ireland.
Job Purpose
As the Head of Crew Training you will hold a pivotal role in providing strategic guidance, leadership, and expertise to the training division. Your principal responsibilities will include providing strategic direction and leadership within Crew Training, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry standards.
You will act as the Nominated Person for Crew Training, with direct access to the accountable manager regarding aviation regulations. Additionally, you will oversee and manage comprehensive training programmes for crew members to enhance their competency and proficiency. Ensuring compliance with Irish and EASA regulations, as well as IOSA SARPS, is crucial to maintaining safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Your role also encompasses managing the performance, motivation, and well-being of all direct reports within the department.
Additionally, you'll oversee departmental costs in alignment with the defined budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee the flight crew onboarding and training processes, ensuring the availability of a highly competent and qualified team.
• Present training inputs in the development and implementation of operational and emergency procedures, ensuring that crews are effectively trained.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Boeing 737 aircraft systems, operations, and performance characteristics, ensuring crew members are adequately trained.
• Develop and implement comprehensive crew training programs in accordance with EASA regulations, IOSA standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Ensure that training programs are designed to meet the specific needs of different crew positions, including pilots, cabin crew, and other relevant personnel.
• Ensure that flight crew members receive thorough and regular training, recurrent checks, and assessments in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
• Collaborate with relevant departments, such as, Safety, Compliance and HR, to identify training needs and create training plans accordingly.
• Manage the delivery of crew training programs, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
• Conduct periodic assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of training programs, adjusting as necessary.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in aviation regulations, technological advancements, and industry trends to ensure training programs remain current and relevant.
• Stay informed about industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in aviation to enhance knowledge and provide strategic recommendations to improve training.
• Ensure the provision of Training documentation to the administration of crew training records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to crew members during their training, addressing any questions, concerns, or issues that may arise.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
• Hold a valid EASA Part-FCL pilot license with TRI-Base training qualification on B737 or equivalent,
eligible for flight crew training positions, or relevant qualifications for other crew training positions.
• Extensive experience in aviation, with a significant portion in management functions of crew training.
• Comprehensive knowledge of EASA regulations, including Part-FCL and Air OPS covering all Annexes to the EU 965/2012 regulation, the related Certification Specifications (CSs), AMC, and
GM, pertaining to crew training and competence as well as relevant parts of the IOSA standards & recommended practices.
• Fluency in English both written and spoken is essential (ICAO Level 5/6). Knowledge of other languages (advantageous).
• Strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and training methodologies.
• Required is proven relevant leadership experience as Nominated Person Crew Training (NPCT),
including the successful establishment, approval, and operational management of an ATO and/or CCTO within the European regulatory environment.
• Must hold an unrestricted TRI qualification on the Boeing 737 type and demonstrate extensive experience in line training.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience
• 10 years of experience in aviation.
• Certified training in SMS, train the trainer, Air Operations Regulation and Flight Crew training & qualification (advantageous).
• Able to demonstrate excellent commercial awareness.
• Confident, approachable, and enthusiastic.
• Proactive and self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
• Team player with the ability to work autonomously.
• Flexibility to travel and work outside of normal hours, when required. Travel is required to attend meetings, training sessions, and other company-related activities. The role may also require working irregular hours including weekends and bank holidays to accommodate operational requirements and emergencies.
