At Airbus Helicopters UK, we are the backbone of Britain’s civil helicopter hub. As the MoD's chosen provider for the No.1 Helicopter Flying School (MFTS), we deliver critical maintenance support for missions that save lives and protect communities. 

We are looking for professional B1.3 Licensed Engineers to maintain our high standards of safety and operational excellence. 

AHUK has an exciting new opportunity arising as the result of a new contract to support aircraft for the MoD located in RAF Akrotiri Cyprus. The aircraft are engaged in a variety of tasks and will need to have maximum availability for the customer. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in aircraft engineering in a challenging and dynamic environment. Your contribution will be key to the success of the contract and the operational capability of the customer. 

The initial on-site duration Cyprus is expected to be until 2028, with potential for extension


Location Flexibility: Your Career, Your Base

We are currently recruiting for the AHUK Cyprus contract which is based at RAF Akrotiri. You can choose a base at one location to complete your Airbus onboarding and training for the first 3-6 months from the locations below :

  • AHUK, London Oxford Airport (Kidlington): Our headquarters and Civil MRO hub.
  • RAF Shawbury (Shropshire): Supporting the MFTS fleet.

The Role

The role is a Full-Time (40 hours/week) position and will report to the Chief Engineer. 

  • Ensuring aircraft are prepared for the day's flying activity.
  • Line maintenance activities.
  • Participation in base maintenance on site in RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus.
  • Defect rectification and fault diagnosis
  • Production duties on site as and when directed by the chief engineer
  • Flexibility will be key in this role and there will be on-call periods, as well as early starts with early finishes or at times late starts and late finishes.


B1.3 Licensed Engineer - Key Skills and Experience

  • Experienced aircraft engineer with extensive experience in rotary. 
  • Pragmatic and flexible but with a keen attitude towards safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Good knowledge of part 145 regulation.
  • Methodical in approach to engineering problems with good fault diagnosis abilities
  • Able to work closely with the customer and build relationships to achieve objectives


Education, Qualifications or Training

Essential

  • UK CAA Licensed Engineer
  • Type rated on the H145 BK117 D-2/3 helicopter
  • Military training or civilian apprenticeship/qualification in aircraft maintenance
  • Knowledge of CAP 562 Leaflet B40

  • Right to Work: All applicants must demonstrate the right to work in the UK for the initial training period and be able to gain the Right to Work in Cyprus. 
  • Security: Applicants must be eligible for SC Clearance. To meet the criteria for this clearance, you must typically have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. A DBS check is also required. 
  • Compliance: Must meet all ITAR and Export Compliance regulations.
  • Professionalism: Excellent communication skills and a highly presentable manner at all levels.
