Role: Licensed Aircraft Engineers (B1.1, B1.2 & B2 Categories)

Company: 247 Aircraft Maintenance Ltd (SERE Aviation Group)

Location: Belfast International Airport (BFS) (with future opportunities at Bournemouth Airport, BOH)

Working Pattern: Hangar Base & Line coverage (with operational flexibility and an on-call rota for mission-critical AOG requirements; attractive standby and call-out premiums apply)

About Us

Operating from modern, fully equipped hangar and engineering facilities at Belfast International Airport, 247 Aircraft Maintenance Ltd serves as the dedicated UK CAA Part 145-approved technical engineering backbone of the SERE Aviation Group.

Backed by an active £3.0 million infrastructure investment that will effectively double our Belfast hangar footprint, we are developing a premier, next-generation maintenance hub featuring expanded multi-bay aircraft capacity, upgraded avionics testing suites, modernised workshops, and enlarged technical stores complex.

In parallel, 247 Aircraft Maintenance Ltd is establishing a second operational engineering base at Bournemouth Airport (BOH). Strategically positioned on the south coast, this facility will provide dedicated forward line maintenance support and around-the-clock technical dispatch cover for our expanding fleet, directly underpinning our service delivery for the recently awarded Channel Islands fixed-wing air ambulance contract across Jersey and Guernsey (subject to contract).

Available Roles

1. B1.2 Licensed Aircraft Engineer (Piston Aircraft / Diamond DA62)

Purpose of Role: Perform, supervise, certify, and release base and line maintenance activities on modern multi-engine piston aircraft, supporting our time-critical regional organ transfer and medical flight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out scheduled base inspections, 50/100-hour checks, and unscheduled line maintenance in accordance with Part 145 standards and approved technical data.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and rectify mechanical, airframe, and powerplant defects (including Austro Engine Jet-A systems).
  • Accurately execute maintenance documentation and certify release to service within licence privileges.
  • Support continuous airworthiness compliance, mandatory service bulletins, and internal quality reporting.

Ideal Candidate: Valid UK CAA Part 66 B1.2 Licence with proven multi-engine piston experience. Current type rating or practical experience on Diamond DA62 / Austro Engine AE330 platforms is highly advantageous.

2. B1.1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer (Learjet 45/75 / Light Jet Operations)

Purpose of Role: Lead and certify maintenance activities on our frontline Learjet 45/75 fleet and corporate light jet assets, ensuring maximum dispatch reliability for long-range aeromedical and executive missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, supervise, and certify scheduled phase checks, line maintenance, and defect rectification on Learjet 45/75 airframes and Honeywell TFE731 powerplants.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and environmental control system faults under time-critical operational deadlines.
  • Drive rapid-response AOG recovery operations to ensure continuous operational readiness.
  • Assist in advancing the hangar’s corporate jet maintenance capability and mentor junior engineering personnel.

Ideal Candidate: Valid UK CAA Part 66 B1.1 Licence with a current Learjet 45 (Honeywell TFE731) type rating and recent certification history. Experienced corporate jet B1.1 engineers with relevant turbine backgrounds seeking a funded type rating will be considered.

3. B1.1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer (Pilatus PC-12 Turboprop)

Purpose of Role: Undertake certifying base and line maintenance on Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, sustaining fleet readiness for multi-role aeromedical transfers and remote-airfield logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute and release scheduled maintenance inspections, phase servicing, and defect troubleshooting on airframe and Pratt & Whitney PT6A powerplant systems.
  • Complete full regulatory compliance logs, maintenance releases, and digital tracking updates in strict compliance with Part 145 requirements.
  • Diagnose mechanical and pneumatic system defects, minimising unscheduled aircraft downtime.
  • Coordinate with continuing airworthiness teams (CAMO) to support fleet reliability and engine health monitoring.

Ideal Candidate: Valid UK CAA Part 66 B1.1 Licence with a Pilatus PC-12 (P&WC PT6A) type rating preferred. Proven turboprop line and base maintenance engineers with transferable experience  considered for type training.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify complex avionics, navigation, radar, communication, and digital flight-deck systems (e.g., Garmin G1000/G3000, Honeywell Primus).
  • Carry out scheduled avionics inspections, compass swings, pitot-static leak checks, and software/database updates.
  • Certify modifications, electrical loom repairs, and component installations within licence privileges.
  • Support root-cause defect investigations on intermittent electrical and avionics snags across all fleet airframes.

Ideal Candidate: Valid UK CAA Part 66 B2 Licence with recent certification currency across turbine, turboprop, or modern piston-twin platforms. Broad glass-cockpit troubleshooting experience is essential.

Core Requirements

  • Licensing: Valid UK CAA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence in the relevant category (B1.1, B1.2, or B2) with active certifying experience.
