This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled military aviation engineering team, supervising aircraft structural maintenance activities while ensuring the highest standards of airworthiness, safety, and technical compliance.

Working within a structured and safety-critical environment, you will provide leadership, technical guidance, and operational support to structural technicians carrying out maintenance, inspection, and repair activities on aircraft supporting the UK's military fast jet training programme.

Combining hands-on engineering involvement with leadership responsibility, this role offers the opportunity to play a key role in maintaining aircraft availability while developing your supervisory experience within a respected military aviation environment.

Why RAF Valley?

- Permanent opportunity within military aviation

- Support Hawk aircraft within the UK's fast jet training programme

- Lead and develop a skilled aircraft structures team

- Highly respected military aviation engineering environment

- Opportunity to expand leadership and supervisory experience

- Coastal location offering an excellent work-life balance

Working Pattern

Monday – Wednesday: 07:00 – 17:00

Thursday: 07:00 – 16:30

Enjoy a structured 4-day working week, providing a long weekend every week and a better work-life balance than many comparable aviation maintenance environments.

The Role

As an Aircraft Structures Supervisor, you will oversee aircraft structural maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and regulatory requirements.

You will provide day-to-day leadership to structural technicians while supporting maintenance delivery against operational and programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate technicians carrying out aircraft structural maintenance and repair activities
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory standards
  • Undertake 1st and 2nd signature responsibilities where appropriately authorised
  • Deputise for the Team Leader as required to support operational delivery
  • Allocate manpower effectively and monitor maintenance progress to meet operational requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with maintenance documentation, airworthiness regulations, and quality procedures
  • Promote and uphold safety, quality, and continuous improvement practices across all activities
  • Support the maintenance, inspection, and repair of primary, secondary, and tertiary aircraft structures
  • Maintain exceptional standards of workmanship within a fast-paced military aviation environment

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong engineering knowledge with hands-on aircraft maintenance experience
  • Proven experience working on aircraft structural repairs and maintenance activities
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive approach to safety, compliance, and team leadership
  • The ability to work effectively within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment

Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guilds 2675 Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Aircraft Maintenance, or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Qualified and experienced in airframe structural repair techniques
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience within a relevant engineering or aviation maintenance environment
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings and technical publications

Security Requirements

Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance.

Ready for Your Next Move?

If you're an experienced aircraft structures professional looking to step into a leadership role within a respected military aviation environment, this is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled engineering team supporting operational Hawk aircraft at RAF Valley.
