Job Description:

The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing and controlling production, schedules, budgets and quality objectives. Supervisor must demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills to lead several tasks simultaneously to achieve on-time delivery. Supervisor must possess significant level of expertise pertaining to Structural / Mechanical modifications. Supervises individual(s) typically consisting of support level employees.  Supervises support or entry level employees. Communicates with parties inside and outside of own team to explain and interpret policies, practices, and procedures. Adjusts basic procedures and processes. Plans and establishes operational objectives for a team with some impact on department results. Understands basic supervisory approaches and has practical knowledge of job area. Reports to Senior Supervisor or higher.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Assist in the development of, performance metrics in key areas such as Quality, Cost and Schedule.
  • Facilitate self-directed work teams, provide training in "core skills" areas to team members and peers, and interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement
  • Perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including total quality management, manufacturing systems, material management, and process re-engineering.
  • Plans and establishes operational objectives for a team within a clearly defined job area. Delivers operational results that have some impact on the achievement of departmental results. Assigns tasks to a team to achieve operational targets, service standards, etc. Does not have budget or Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability, but may manage day-to-day elements of the budget (e.g., overtime for staff).
  • Work consists of making basic adjustments in procedures and processes to solve problems. Identifies, defines and addresses general problems that are typically within the immediate job area or team. Problems are generally solved through drawing from prior experiences or standard procedures and basis analysis.
  • Provides day-to-day work direction for direct report(s), focuses on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolving operational decisions. Provides input on hiring, firing, promotion, performance and/or compensation decisions for direct report(s).
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of own team, which may include customers or vendors. Explains and interprets policies, practices and procedures of the area of responsibility to others within the organization.
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible to work off shifts and overtime

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active DoD Security Clearance
  • Excellent oral, written and computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, with heavy emphasis on Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Structural modifications and assemblies.
  • Must be proficient in navigating schematics and maintenance manuals as required.
  • Requires knowledge of and planning for depot-level maintenance and baseline modifications on various airframes.
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated.
  • Must be technically proficient.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and have the ability to coordinate with other functional groups and support organizations.
