Skills You Bring To This Role\:

  • Experience with aircraft certification processes and requirements. 
  • Experience with MOSA and Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) is a plus
  • Proven leadership and project management skills, including the ability to lead and mentor teams. 
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, including requirements management tools, modeling and simulation tools, and configuration management tools. 
  • Able to communicate directly with senior leadership inside and outside the company.
  • Self-motivated and able to track and report performance to cost and schedule.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) 

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Mechanical or Other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable experience.
  • At least 10 + years of experience in IMA including experience as a technical lead responsible for guiding the development, certification, and integration of IMA systems in accordance with RTCA DO-297 guidance. 
  • Ability to gain and maintain US Secret Clearance
  • Be proficient in relevant standards and guidance, including , , , and . 
  • Significant experience in systems engineering, specifically in the development and certification of avionics systems. 
  • Strong understanding of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architectures, principles, and DO-297 guidance.

Core Avionics IPT, Integrated Modular Avionics Lead Engineer  

Within the Core Avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT), a lead engineer for Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) would be a technical lead responsible for guiding the development, certification, and integration of IMA systems in accordance with RTCA DO-297 guidance

This role involves translating requirements into system architectures, overseeing hardware/software development and testing, ensuring compliance with DO-297 and other relevant standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.  

Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) is an avionics system architecture that replaces multiple, separate processors and line replaceable units (LRUs) with fewer, more centralized processing units. This approach leads to weight reduction and cost savings, making it a popular choice in modern aircraft, including FLRAA.

 

What You Will Be Doing as the Integrated Modular Avionics - Lead Engineer\:  

  • Direct and mentor a team of engineers in the development and implementation of IMA systems. 
  • Work with stakeholders to define, document, and manage system requirements, particularly in relation to DO-297. 
  • Design and develop IMA system architectures, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and functional requirements. 
  • Ensure adherence to DO-297 guidelines throughout the development lifecycle, including safety assessments, verification and validation, and configuration management. 
  • Oversee the integration of hardware and software components, conducting rigorous testing and validation to ensure system functionality and reliability. 
  • Collaborate with certification authorities to obtain necessary approvals for IMA systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. 
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines, including software, hardware, and systems engineering, as well as with cross-functional teams. 
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with stakeholder
