Fleet-Wide Overhaul: New Cabins, More Premium
Under the newly announced plan, the airline’s Boeing 787-9s will undergo a complete cabin redesign. The crown jewel of the upgrade is the complete retrofit of Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 fleet, due to roll out across 2025–2030. The refit will replace the existing Upper Class layout with Virgin’s flagship Retreat Suites, bringing:
- 44 Upper Class seats (up from 31)
- 56 Premium Economy seats
- All-new soft furnishings, mood lighting, and in-flight entertainment systems
The A330neo fleet isn’t being left out either — from Q3 2026, all new deliveries will come with:
- Retreat Suites in Upper Class
- 48 Upper Class seats in total
- Enhanced Premium and Economy layouts

Free Starlink Wi-Fi on All Flights
Let’s not bury the lead: Virgin Atlantic is about to become the first UK airline to offer free high-speed Wi-Fi, powered by Starlink.
Rollout is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with full completion targeted for the end of 2027. Passengers will be able to stream, scroll, and work seamlessly throughout the flight, even over oceans, with no extra charge.
The new service is designed to transform the in-flight experience, enabling travelers to enjoy seamless communication, entertainment, and productivity. This puts Virgin ahead of BA, EasyJet, and even most US carriers in the in-flight connectivity race.
AI Concierge, Lounge Revamps, and a Smarter App
The upgrade isn’t just physical. Virgin is investing heavily in digital innovation, including: New AI-powered travel concierge, developed in partnership with OpenAI-backed startup Tomoro.ai. It is being positioned as your travel assistant. The virtual assistant will also be available in multiple languages, offering an immersive, hands-free experience for travelers.
A completely revamped Virgin app is scheduled to launch by December 2025, aiming to streamline check-in, seat upgrades, lounge access, and loyalty integration.
Besides the tech focus, the carrier is investing heavily in upgrading its premium lounges, especially the flagship clubhouses at London’s Heathrow and New York’s JFK. New lounge features will include private workstations, larger dining areas with a broader selection of premium foods, and expanded relaxation zones designed to make the pre-flight experience as enjoyable as the flight itself.
New Route: Daily Flights to Seoul
As part of its long-term network expansion, Virgin Atlantic will launch daily flights between London Heathrow and Incheon International Airport, Seoul, starting March 29, 2026.
It’s the airline’s first return to South Korea in over a decade and a clear nod to the region’s growing importance for business and leisure travellers. Virgin has also announced capacity increases to India and the Middle East, particularly Riyadh, as it chases both premium traffic and diaspora travel.
