Principal Battery Systems & Qualification Engineer

Volantes Recruitment are supporting a confidential advanced eVTOL engineering programme with the recruitment of a Principal Battery Systems & Qualification Engineer.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring significant depth across battery pack design, cell selection, thermal behaviour, safety and qualification.

Key experience required:

🔸 10+ years' battery / energy storage engineering experience
🔸 Hands-on battery pack design at cell, module & pack level
🔸 Cell chemistry & format selection
🔸 Pack architecture, topology & usable-energy definition
🔸 Cell characterisation & battery modelling
🔸 Thermal design & management
🔸 Thermal runaway, abuse & propagation testing
🔸 Battery qualification programme experience
🔸 Requirements & development assurance knowledge
🔸 Supplier technical assessment & component selection
🔸 Experience within aerospace or equivalent safety-critical applications

Experience with high-power/high-C-rate battery systems, electric or hybrid-electric aerospace applications and certification environments would be particularly valuable.
