Position: Avionics Multi Core Systems Engineer-

Location: Melbourne FL-Remote

Very High-Priority Requirement

AC-20-193 (previously CAST-32A) experience is VERY, VERY MANDATORY for this role. Candidates without hands-on experience with AC-20-193/CAST-32A should not be considered.

Multi-core processor experience is also mandatory, along with relevant hardware development experience.

This is a top-priority requirement, and we can offer 100% remote work he has to travel once a while. We are confident we can close this position with the right candidate, so please prioritize it on an urgent basis.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform multi-core analysis aligned with AC‐20‐193 guidance on a multi‐core system.
  • Develop or execute micro‐benchmarks/benchmarks on the target multi‐core system.
  • Analyze system performance and undesired behavior caused by hardware or software interference and drive mitigation solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have:

· Experience with multi‐core processor products in safety-critical environments.

· Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) experience in safety‐critical environments.

· Embedded hardware development and verification experience.

· Experience or knowledge of AC‐20‐193 (previously CAST‐32A).

· Experience defining hardware interference channels.

· Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of progressive experience as a Systems Engineer or related role. In the alternative, must possess at least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related role would be acceptable.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Embedded system design and verification experience.
  • Experience analyzing system behavior and performance impacts in multi‐core architectures.
  • Background developing benchmarks or micro‐benchmarks for embedded systems to test and analyze a multi-core platform.
  • Must possess at least 3 years of experience with experience with safety-critical development standards, including: DO-178C, DO-254, DO-297, AC20-193, or ARP4754B.
  • Experience with FAA CAST-32A objectives, including investigation of multi-core interference channels, documentation and analysis of results, as well as methods to support independent third party certification
  • Avionics systems are currently undergoing a transition from single core processor architectures to multiple core (multi-core) processors. This transition enables a reduction in size, weight and power (SWaP) and the use of common processing platforms, providing multiple potential benefits for programs in terms of reduced costs, spares management and obsolescence. However, avionics hardware and software certification policies and guidance are evolving as research and experience is gained with creating certification evidence for multi-core processor architectures.
