KLM UK Engineering Ltd is a leading, UK based, regional aircraft and narrow body MRO wholly owned by the AFI KLM E&M network. Services include base maintenance, line maintenance support throughout the UK, component sales, technical training and decommissioning of Embraer 170/190, Boeing 737s, Airbus A320 family, Fokker 70/100 and BAe146/Avro RJs.
We have an extensive on-site Component Repair Centre/Workshop which supports all base maintenance activities delivering a high quality of modifications, overhaul, NDT, paint shop and component repairs.
Main Purpose of job:
We are looking for a Workshop Manager to continue to inspire and lead our workshops team to safely deliver external component repairs and internal back shops support at our Norwich base.
With a brand new workshop facility opening in 2020, you will also have the opportunity to help shape and design the layout of the new facility and help manage the day to day operation of the Workshop Department ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and airworthiness standards.
Key tasks & responsibilities:
Day to day leadership of and accountability for the workshops department to ensure the business strategy is delivered by enabling and supporting all appropriate structures, people, systems and processes.
Deliver sales and revenue growth including expanding capability and developing brand awareness and promoting a responsive, customer focused approach to business management.
Responsible for producing responses to “Request for Quotes” (RFQ’s), including pricing and turnaround delivery times.
To ensure that customers’ orders and contracts are fully met in accordance with the specification.
Responsible for department safety, compliance, cost, service delivery and people (approx. 30 heads).
Desirable skills and knowledge
Knowledge / experience of working in EASA Part 145 regulated environment.
Familiar with aircraft component maintenance.
Experience in running an aircraft component repair and overhaul business.
Essential skills and behaviours:
Experience of operational management within a maintenance or production engineering environment.
Proven effective change management experience.
Sound understanding of HSE regulations.
Strong operational skills coupled with good leadership, staff management and development skill.
Technically astute and product focused with experience in production management.
Must be IT literate with highly developed planning and organisational skills.
Excellent English language skills with a questioning mind and ability to articulate views well.
Ability to identify and improve business effectiveness by reviewing ways of working and bringing about changes that deliver improved performance.
