Come be an important part of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company. Electrical Design focuses on turning systems requirements into physical designs that fly people safely and efficiently all over the world. Our focus is developing cost effective technology that will enhance the safety of our products and the satisfaction of our airline customers and ultimately their customers, the flying public.
As a member of our Wire Design and Installation organization there are a number of different path choices. Our engineers use their knowledge in a highly collaborative environment to define the right electrical parts, for the right applications, at the right cost. They architect the wiring land equipment layouts throughout the entire airplane based on stringent safety requirements while taking into account the most efficient methods to build and maintain the airplane. They often work closely with the factory and watch their designs become reality. Additionally, they work with our airline customers to incorporate new technologies and cool features into their airplanes. You will be teamed with an experienced mentor and work with a diverse team focused on innovating the future of flight.
We are looking for energetic Technical Designers who want to design, innovate, learn, ask questions, and challenge the status quo. A successful candidate must be comfortable in teaming environments. Collaborative design teams is how we bring the best engineering solution to reality. Good mastery of desktop computing tools such as the MS Office Suite help engineers communicate. Good verbal communication skills is important also. Working knowledge of CATIA V5 or other 3D CAD systems is a plus.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Develop, maintain and release electrical/mechanical drawings, systems designs or engineering documentation and data by applying company, industry and governmental standards.
Using design tools to prepare documentation and incorporate design changes.
Create, develop and maintain systems designs by preparing design layouts, modifying existing designs and assisting in identifying design discrepancies.
Support engineering system design and functionality validation activities.
Develop and maintain product installation designs and part designs ranging from simple to moderately complex.
Coordinate activities and products with internal partners and external suppliers.
Interpret and develop design requirements based on technical data (e.g., customer inputs, system offerability).
Verify compliance with customer requirements.
Develop and maintain engineering documentation and data (e.g., system block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, wire bundles, hardware components, parts lists, product data descriptions, production acceptance tests,
Technical Publications source data by applying company, industry and governmental standards (e.g., design, drafting, parts) to specify design elements.
Validate engineering system design and functionality by performing product performance analyses (e.g., installation, reliability, maintainability, fault isolation, failure modes and effects) and sequentially integrating and testing parts, sub-systems and the overall system.
Ensure compliance with requirements, standards and applicable regulatory authority and maintain the integrity of the product.
Develop and maintain electrical/electronic product installation designs (e.g., equipment racks, wire harnesses, power panels, antennas) by preparing design layouts and modifying existing designs to ensure that design requirements (e.g., grounding, system separation, bonding) are met.
Provide engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests) by investigating manufacturing and test problems and researching and analyzing product data (e.g., drawings, parts standards, specifications).
Coordinate with cross-functional groups and suppliers (e.g., design, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing) to identify solutions.
Develop detailed engineering statements of work for electrical/electronic design deliverables.
Coordinate supplier or partner equipment, tools and processes with Boeing tools and processes.
Support the supplier or partner during the design and build process.
Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems. We are engineers and technicians. Skilled scientists and thinkers. Bold innovators and dreamers. Join us, and you can build something better for yourself, for our customers and for the world.
