Perform manual Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), semi-automatic and automatic welding of various alloys on aircraft assemblies to fabricate, assemble, rework, repair production ducts and tubes, or modify experimental This requires quick adjustments during the welding process to compensate for variations in thickness, mismatch, gap, equipment anomalies, joint and or part configuration, etc. Select electrodes, gas cups, weld current, arc voltage, travel speed, gas flow, wire size, feed rate per the weld schedule or other furnished information, and accomplish seam tracking as required. Demonstrate welding proficiency and pass all certification tests on Titanium, Aluminum, Stainless and Inconel thin wall tubes in 6G positions as well as dissimilar thicknesses in the 2F positions. Plan sequence of welding operations to allow maximum accessibility to the last weld joint area on a complete assembly. Must be able to work from prints, plans, specifications, verbal or written information. Ability to interpret and apply American Welding Society (AWS) weld symbols per drawing or plan. Maintain certifications, licenses or permits as required to perform work assignment. Demonstrate the ability to continuously weld flight hardware using semiautomatic positioners. Perform self-inspection on welds using company specifications for required acceptance criteria. All production welds must pass visual inspections and according to class may require additional NDE methods i.e. metallographic, fluorescent penetrant, and or radiography. Be able to set up and operate manual welding in atmosphere free chambers, and have the ability to use inert gas shielding trailers. Inspect and request repairs when required to maintain welding equipment in safe and optimum operating condition. Communicate ideas related to continuous quality, process, or safety improvements to team members and management. Ability to adapt to different weld cell locations throughout the factory that utilize different alloys and welding hardware as needed.
