SUMMARY

The Vice President of Business Development will have a strong & successful background in new customer/business development specifically in the Aviation, Aerostructures & Aerospace industry with emphasis in Composite manufacturing type programs. The successful candidate will have full responsibility to ensure that AAR coordinates and cultivates strong relationships with new business prospects and with our legacy customers while remaining competitive in the market

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*

Identify and document short and long term potential programs, customers and applications which match overall business and technical thrusts of the long-term strategic plan.

*

Implement and maintain business and strategic/marketing plans focused on developing existing and new customers and new products.

*

Plan and create detailed/focused business and strategic/marketing plans for assigned industry segments and/or customers.

*

Assure technical, capital and R&D plans are in alignment with and supportive of business and strategic/marketing plans.

*

Analyze strengths and strategy of segment competitors. Determine competitive pricing and internal investment needs.

*

Establish customer communication links at all levels in the supply chain. Establish and maintain Company credibility with customers.

*

Identify new opportunities as defined in the Business unit strategic plan; develop capture plans; coordinate with internal and external customer’s to develop and implement strategy to secure work for AAR Composites.

*

Manage proposal activity from initial request for information up to & including contract negotiation/award. Manage Gate review process for sign off and acceptance by AAR Leadership

*

Interface with customers, government officials, and prime contractors for purpose of introducing, selling, negotiating or servicing.

*

Ensure that all new opportunities are controlled in accordance with the Bid and Proposal policies and procedures.

*

Strengthen relationships with existing key customers and develop new ones which result in mutually beneficial strategic alliances.

*

Establish and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance.

*

Interface with and support the Program Management Office locally and across Business Units, as needed.

*

Maintain continuous contact with Business Units to assure new programs and projects support present and future business objectives.

*

Business Planning and Budgeting

*

Participate in the development of the objectives and business plans of the enterprise and share responsibility for the general management of the business to achieve the targets set by the Company.

*

Manages the new business organization’s budget in support of the company’s goals and objectives.

*

Provides leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through effective communications, developing an efficient organizational structure that is responsive to program requirements and changes. Assigns effective lines of responsibility and authority including the development of key personnel to maintain performance for subordinates.

*

Comply with the A&I Compliance and Ethics Policy on Contracting with the United States Government in all areas of responsibility.

*

The Vice President of Business Development will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with AARs policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Business; second or advanced degree in Business and/or Engineering is desirable.

*

Minimum of 10 years of related business development/sales experience.

*

Demonstrated broad technical understanding of structure design, composite materials and manufacturing, machining, structural assemblies, advanced processes, manufacturing operations and applications.

*

Demonstrated ability to influence across functional lines within the Company and client organizations.

*

Must be able to manage direct reports, establish customer contacts alone and as leader of a team, and function in a management capacity.

*

Ability to direct, review, assist and develop both direct reports and others such as technical collaborators in a positive and supportive fashion is essential.

*

Must be PC Literate (Excel, Word, Access, Project and MRP Systems). Experience with MRB, ECO, Purchasing Process, and Production MRP functions

*

Ability to travel up to 50%

*

Ability to create Strategic Plan and align to the Operating plan

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
