TOCC Crew Control Manager Fixed Term Contract

TUI Group is the world’s number one integrated tourism business.  Within TUI Group, TUI Airline regroups all airline activities across UK, Nordics, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Morocco, France, and the Dutch Antilles.  Airline Operations is a function within our airline organisation responsible for operational planning and 24 hour delivery of airline operations in the operational control window: day of operation and 8 weeks prior. The Airline Operations function operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.

 As TOCC Crew Control Manager, your focus will be to ensure the TOCC provide critical operational direction information to locally based Crewing teams across the Airlines, working collaboratively with the local Crewing leaders to ensure processes and operations are aligned across markets while taking account of the cultural differences in each market. The role has direct management responsibility for the Crewing teams based in the UK and in Sweden and a coordinating responsibility for the Crewing teams based in Belgium and Germany.

 In this role, you’ll report to the Director of Airline Operations.

The role may be based in Luton, Stockholm, Zaventem or Hannover and is offered on a fixed term contract basis.

ABOUT THE JOB 

• Ensuring crew focus is maintained consistently within the operational control environment and decision making throughout the TOCC, appropriately challenging peers making operational decisions to ensure that the Crew voice is heard alongside that of the aircraft and the customer
• Ensuring consistent standards of the provision of operational direction and information flow to the locally based, international 24/7 Crewing teams taking into account country contexts, regulation and cultural differences across TUI Airline for all airlines
• Providing high quality leadership whilst promoting an open, honest team culture to enhance employee engagement and deliver the highest levels of operational integrity and customer service
• Working closely with Crewing leaders across the markets to ensure that performance is being driven consistently, with alignment and efficiency opportunities identified, whilst respecting local and cultural differences
• Coaching, driving high performance and ensuring personal development; our people are our most important asset so engaging and motivating the team to fulfil their potential is a key priority
• Developing standardised processes and procedures to ensure consistent and compliant crewing of flights as required in the 72hours prior to and day of operation inclusive
• Developing standardised processes and procedures to ensure consistent and compliant short notice crew travel and accommodation solutions as required in the 72hours prior to and day of operation inclusive
• Ensuring processes for the provision of accurate and timely communication of crew delays and programme impacts to OCC colleagues
• Ensuring the Crewing department teams align to provide professional service to all TUI Airline crew in accordance with regulatory and industrial agreements
• Leading Crewing department safety, risk, compliance management activity
• Ensuring process and procedure for crew related data management including regulatory requirements such as FTL records and transmission of crew APIS information consistently seeking to improve the automation and timeliness of management information. 
• Delivering the efficient and cost-effective management and reporting of crew working payments in accordance with crew agreements, seeking opportunities to automate MI and reporting
• Developing strong working relationships with local airline Crew Scheduling and Crew Management regarding communication and opportunities for continuous improvement
• Liaison and cooperation with crew collective representatives as appropriate
• Liaison and cooperation with NAA regulatory representatives as required in respect of crew regulations
• Fully participating as a member of the Airline Operations Management team to collectively shape and drive forward the development and performance of the functional area
• Providing on call senior operational management support outside of normal business hours including incident and crisis response

ABOUT YOU

•  Understanding of irregular operations and crew expectations in such events
• Demonstrable experience of managing crisis scenarios 
• Experience of working with policy and or legislative agreements
• A creative problem solver, able to consider alternatives and arrive at a logical decision
• Experience and understanding of working in a matrix organisation taking account of cultural differences and working practices
• Comfortable with ambiguity and working under pressure in a reactive environment
• Great communication skills with the ability to liaise and influence effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• Strong people management, with a proven track record
• Experience of managing financial budgets
• Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel
