Overview of department:

The position will involve carrying out a range of technical activities under guidance in line with all relevant process, quality and other requirements

Primary Function is to provide Technician level support to the existing EE PDS Engineers with respect to hands-on investigation work on Prime & Test Equipment in the PDS lab and on the shop floor. Also, to assist with the workload on administrative tasks (completion of documentation and chasing through approval loops) 

*Dynamic working available – 80% onsite 20% WFH*

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and verification of engineering work and manufactured equipment against defined standards and specifications
  • Carry out a range of tests and technical investigations across a range of products to ensure they meet agreed specifications
  • Use of the following test tools/equipment:
    • Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, Network Analyser, Spectrum Analyser etc
    • Compile associated test and verification reports
    • Provide data for problem assessment and design of improvements
    • Provide support in resolving problems and issues and, where appropriate, capture non compliances using established standards and tools
    • Carry out a range of standard activities, including production of documentation to support the in-service use of products in assigned areas
    • Interface with customers in relation to standard issues, including resolving straightforward queries and problems, logging and actioning all items
    • Contribute as appropriate to engineering team decisions
    • Keep full and accurate records of all work and activities carried out

Skillset/experience required:

  • Previous technician level testing experience, ideally within engineering/manufacturing/military industries
  • Experience of working within a heavily regulated industry, where Electronic Engineering is a fundamental aspect
  • 2+Yrs prior work experience in a similar role (hands-on lab / shop floor role)
  • Experienced with rigorous change control processes
  • Familiar with processing of documentation that requires approval and authorisation from multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or HNC/HND in Electronic & Electrical Engineering
