About the Role

This role sits within our ETAD team. (Electrical Test Automation Development) This team is responsible for creating the hardware 'test-boxes' that help to test our products at all levels of assembly, including at our contract manufactures (vendors). The person hired for this role will need a strong combination of Hardware, Software and testing skills. He/She will help create automated tests on L3Harris WESCAM's high-tech surveillance systems and help to debug/root-cause issues, when they arise.

Responsibilities

*

Design, develop and support functional and system test applications (hardware and software) to validate production assemblies and systems

*

Develop custom hardware and/or software to automate various processes and procedures

*

Work with other members of Operational Engineering to improve existing processes

*

Support production and vendors, as it relates to the testing and troubleshooting of production assemblies

*

Formulate and execute on a strategic direction to increase automation within the factory and field

*

Participate during specification development, design, implementation and provide input to design review to ensure appropriate design for test requirements are accommodated

*

Work with members of the (NPI) New Product Introduction teams to assess testability and determine test requirements and methods for new assemblies including circuit card assemblies, sub-assemblies, cameras and lenses

*

Evaluate and recommend latest DFT (Design For Test) tools, work closely with design engineering team to make sure that Test Engineering objectives are met on new designs

*

Support production and vendors, as it relates to the testing and troubleshooting of production assemblies

*

Develop test fixture requirements of outsourced projects and manage subcontractors

*

Design, develop and manage Boundary Scan test and pass through assembly test

*

Lead or assist in root cause analysis investigation of electrical assembly failures

*

Maintain test fixtures and improve test coverage on sustaining fixtures

*

Select and justify capital equipment purchases associated with product testing

*

Assist in conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for production issues that arise internally and as well as from outsourced assemblies

*

Provide day-today support to Customer Service Group on test equipment issues

*

Responsible to verify and test new test equipment before roll out to CSG (Customer Service Group)

*

Act as the Test Engineering point of contact to CSG on all test equipment related enquiries

*

Support quality practices (AS9100 and ISO9001)

Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of electronics (both analog and digital)

Experience programming in LabVIEW, C#, embedded C, and VHDL

*

Experience designing with microcontrollers and FPGA's

Experience with OrCad Capture, Layout and Allegro PCB Design (Printed Circuit Board)

*

Very strong understanding of MS Windows (Linux is an asset)

*

Expert knowledge of testing methodologies

*

Knowledge of JTAG Boundary Scan testing

*

Strong working knowledge of standard communications protocols (i.e. RS232, RS422, USB, I2C, CAN Bus, Ethernet etc.)

Desired Experience and Education

*

Undergraduate Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Community College Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience

*

Minimum 2-5 years of hands on experience programming in LabVIEW

*

Minimum 2-5 years experience developing functional test and/or automation systems

*

Minimum 2-5 years of hands on experience working with microcontrollers (specifically the Atmel AVR, disPic), and programming in assembly language and embedded C

*

Minimum 2-5 years of hands on experience working with FPGA's (specifically the Xilinx Spartan3), and programming in VHDL

*

Minimum 2-5 years experience designing custom circuit boards, including the PCB
