Structural Engineer III

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Guide structural design of metallic and composite pod structures and aircraft modifications
* Develop load paths for attachment of mission equipment to aircraft primary and secondary structure
* Perform detailed structural analysis on both primary and secondary aircraft structure utilizing classical hand calculation methods and finite element analysis
* Perform dynamic analysis on aircraft modifications. Dynamic analysis to include impulse, random/vibration response, and harmonic response
* Work closely with structural design group to develop detailed 2D drawings for production
* Develop substantiation documentation in order to demonstrate compliance related airworthiness requirements including;
* Test plans and reports
* Analysis documents
* Compliance checklists

* Produce detailed structural analysis reports and work with approving designated engineering representative to obtain approval
* Collaborate with other engineering functions, and subject matter experts on system level details including assembly and subassembly requirements
* Provide on-site liaison support for production build activities
* Other responsibilities may include new business development, IR&D projects, and customer interface

Required Qualifications:

* Experience in both classical structural analysis and finite element analysis of metallic and composite aircraft primary and secondary structure
* Experience in vibration analysis of aircraft structure

* Ability to prioritize workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands
* Ability to communicate with all levels of management, customers, and individual contributors
* B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering required
* 6 or more years of experience working with Stress Analysis related work

Preferred Qualifications:

* Able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of regulatory and applicable airworthiness requirements including MIL-HDBK-516C, CFR 14 Part 23, & 25 requirements
* Experience in damage tolerance analysis of metallic and composite aircraft structure
* SolidWorks experience
* Experience with narrow body transport category aircraft
* Experienced in execution of government contracts
* Experience in integrating mission systems across a wide variety of primary/secondary structure
* Experience in VBA programming
* Experience in liaison engineering
