With the existing Station Engineer retiring after 31 years in the role, applications are invited from licensed aircraft engineers for the position of Station Engineer, based at Kirkwall, Orkney Isles.
With the ongoing development of the company, there being over 820 staff and almost 45 aircraft to operate, this is a great time to join a dynamic and fast moving team. The Kirkwall team has 8 members and they provide line maintenance support for the Saab 340, Saab 2000 and BN2 Islander aircraft, having modern facilities and hangar. Participating and managing the Base maintenance of the BN2 aircraft is a main aspect of the role.
The Station Engineer is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the team and in ensuring that the aircraft maintenance work is carried out as required and that aircraft are returned to service in a safe and timely manner. Other duties associated with the role include: roster management; ordering stock items and recording of part numbers; maintenance of vehicles and plant; and robust tool control. The Station Engineer will lead the team and ensure that a highly professional operation continues to be delivered at all times.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a can-do attitude, will be proactive and will carry out the role with initiative at all times. Excellent planning, anticipatory and work prioritisation skills will be evident. The Station Engineer will possess sound administration skills and will be a clear and timely communicator. In essence, the Station Engineer will lead and motivate the local team at all times, ensuring that aircraft are returned to service safely and without undue delay.
