The Heat Exchanger Project Engineer is responsible for full execution of the component development, design, certification as well as supporting production and aftermarket for all assigned heat exchangers. This includes detail planning and execution to assure that all critical program milestones are met and identifying the team resources required to execute the detailed component plan through design, development, manufacture, qualification and entry into revenue service.
This project engineering position is within the UTAS Heat Exchanger Product Line Organization in Windsor Locks. The Heat Exchanger Product Line encompasses all engineering activities associated with the design, development, qualification, and production support of Heat Exchangers in the ES organization. The product line includes design, project and manufacturing teams in Windsor Locks as well as other UTAS global locations.
The primary responsibility for this position is to work closely with the UTAS international engineering/design/manufacturing heat exchanger partner responsible for design and manufacture of engine mounted heat exchangers for several Pratt & Whitney engine platforms. The UTAS project engineer is responsible to assure that all UTAS, Pratt & Whitney and airline technical requirements are satisfied for each engine program. The project engineer will help lead investigations associated with heat exchanger service issues to expedite root cause analysis and implement corrective action. The project engineer will be the direct interface between the UTAS international team and the customer as well as being the focal point between the team and UTAS program and executive management. The engineer will be required to present to UTAS management, UTAS program and the customer on a regular basis. This engineer will be an integral part of the Windsor Locks project engineering and design team and will work closely with the international heat exchanger team to assure that information about new technology, cost reduction ideas, and new design tools are shared between all UTAS sites.
This project engineer will also employ and manage domestic low cost contract support to complete component related administrative tasks associated with these same programs. This includes compliance management, facilitating engineering changes through Pratt & Whitney and through UTAS, managing budgets, exporting data between UTAS and the international site, etc.
In addition to supporting the international UTAS heat exchanger team, the project engineer in this position may be assigned other component leadership tasks, including investigating and correcting service hardware issues and implementing hardware cost reduction changes into legacy heat exchanger designs. This effort would include planning out what analysis or testing would be necessary to implement and recertify, estimating resources and funding and managing activity though design, analysis, testing and customer approval.
* Familiarization with castings, brazing and welding of sheet metal fabrications
Qualification: Basic Qualifications:
* A minimum of 5-years' experience with engineering of mechanical parts
* Experience leading a developmental team
* Experience presenting to management and customers
* Experience with task detail planning, budget planning and project execution
* Excellent English communication skills and strong writing skills

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
* Master's degree in Engineering and/or MBA preferred
