Senior Software Developer - CAD Tools - Mission Systems

Summary:

The Integrated Solutions for Engineering (ISE) organization is seeking a dedicated, passionate and self-motivated Mechanical CAD Administrator/Software Developer that understands the newest technologies and can apply those technologies to the Hardware Engineering design space. If you are the type of person who likes to solve problems and construct high value enterprise solutions, this is the opportunity for you.

We are looking for a Mechanical CAD Administrator/Support Specialist that has the ability to work with others in the company to develop solutions associated with the alignment and integration of CAD tools. The individual will be responsible for working with groups throughout the company to assist them with development of CAD solutions plans and structure to ensure users are successful in utilizing tools to perform their daily tasks. This includes working with tool vendors and team members to develop the end user solutions.

The position supports production CAD instances throughout the Collins Aerospace enterprise, both Siemens NX and Dassault SOLIDWORKS among others. The position requires developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of current application portfolio and the technical needs of programs and functional end-users. This includes development of automation scripting and coding, as well as addressing end-user incidents and requests for assistance within agreed service level guidance in support of business and IT priorities.

Job Responsibilities:

* Provide Level 1 end-user support of CAD software applications including, but not limited to NX, SolidWorks, and Multi-CAD Data Management and Integrations in development and production environments.
* Perform root cause analysis, debugging problems with the CAD environment and working with the appropriate technical teams to develop, test, and implement fixes to prevent recurrence.
* Monitor, address, and resolve production CAD environment incidents, service requests, workflows, client install packages, etc., collaboratively with the PDM development and administration teams.
* With support of expert level users, define and document best practices, methods, training guides, and standard company processes.
* Document all aspects of system support such that knowledge is readily shared among all those tasked with supporting CAD instances.
* Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to continuously improve methods and practices, share new practices, and drive an error-free approach to product design and CAD modeling.
* Working closely with Information Technology (IT) for maintenance of CAD applications, including review of license usage, needs, and upgrades of all CAD applications to support all users.
* Support System Integration and User Acceptance Testing as necessary.
* Provide demos to users and prepare training material and arrange training sessions for business users.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience
* The successful candidate should have several years of practical experience that will be leveraged to identify opportunities to expand the supporting tools needed to enable Hardware Engineering to perform at their highest levels. The candidate will find success in enabling the Hardware Engineers at Collins Aerospace to continue our long tradition of high quality, innovative products while pushing the frontiers of design tool applications.
* Prior experience with primary CAD tools (NX, SOLIDWORKS) and integrations to PDM/PLM tools is preferred. Knowledge in the use and application of MBD/PMI for Hardware design, Visualization tools, CAE Validation and Verification tools and Translator tools among other tools is a plus.

United Technologies Corporation is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status, age or any other federally protected class.
