Moog is looking for a Sr. Design Engineer to develop complex electrohydraulic, electromechanical, mechanical, hydromechanical and electropneumatic components and systems that will become our new products. In this role you will plan and conduct efforts requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard and nonstandard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. The products of Moog generally are unique for each customer; most new applications require a special, tailored design or adaptation of existing designs. This position is located at our aerospace facility in Torrance, CA. Moog Aircraft Group is the leader of advanced flight controls for commercial and military aircraft. Key Responsibilities: * Develop new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel. * Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses. * Be a key contributor to a design proposal team in preparing a design, estimating costs, and assisting in writing the technical volume. * Operate effectively as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals, soliciting and being sensitive to design feedback. * Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its technical reputation. * Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program. * Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports. * Consult on new product and market development efforts. * Maintain currency with materials technology, industry design requirements (Military, FAA, NASA, etc.), and modern design analysis tools. * When applicable supervise subordinate engineers and project/product engineering technicians. At a minimum, you need to meet these Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering * Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience * Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) Preferred Qualifications Include: * Prefer engineering experience in the aerospace industry * Experience creating successful designs of electrohydraulic, electromechanical, mechanical and/or electropneumatic servomechanisms and their control electronics * Experience in design analysis, including stress analysis, kinematics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, and vibration * Proven record of accomplishments including successfully developing and producing designs and a demonstrated ability to participate in a product design team. * Strongly prefer design experience of flight actuation systems At Moog we work in an environment where people trust, respect and encourage one another.
