Job Description

CACI is looking for an experienced Space Systems Project Engineer with domain expertise in electronics and power systems. This engineer will support development of the power supply, battery, and battery charger design to be used in current and future space suits for U.S. Astronauts. This engineering position supports development of the next generation Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (xEMU) Power Supply Assembly (xPSA), and certifying the integrated xPSA, battery, and charger for space flight.

The work involves development of the electrical design, requirements development, verification, and assessment, testing and integration, and technical oversight of the xPSA, battery and charger development for future space suit systems.

This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner. The individual must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program and share in the excitement of developing the next generation of human-rated space vehicles and flight hardware.

More About the Role:

* Support development for space system projects related to but not limited to the xPSA, battery charge/discharge systems for Li-Ion batteries. Review problem resolution documents for flight hardware.
* Interface with xPSA, battery, and charger design teams.
* Review power supply electrical design.
* Perform technical integration including developing issue resolution plans, determining technical/cost/schedule impacts, and recommending courses of action to minimize impacts to the overall project.
* Track verification and validation of requirements, identify requirement/verification non-compliances, and propose courses of action to resolve non-compliant conditions.
* Provide recommendations for system/product verification/certification through participation in lifecycle and milestone reviews to ensure that requirements and results are properly addressed.
* Utilize system engineering tools, methods, processes, schedules, and risk analyses to develop effective project recommendations. Specifically, identify technical risks, and develop/execute a strategy to resolve resulting issues.
* Identify requirement gaps and work with NASA Project Manager to resolve issues.
* Integrate various assessments, studies and analyses into comprehensive technical briefings, reports, and technical memos.
* Review drawing changes.
* Support Test and Verification (T&V) activities including test procedure development and review, hardware troubleshooting, and hardware integration. Review test results.
* Develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs) that define hardware interfaces between the xPSA and charger electronics.
* Interface with NASA and contractor engineering teams including internal and external project stakeholders
* Support operation of as-built hardware.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

* Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to USG facilities.
* B.S. in Electrical Engineering required with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in electronics and power systems. More experience is welcome.
* Strong technical and analytical skills.
* Experience with circuit analysis and simulation.
* Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
* Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.

Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

* M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience with software such as Altium, Pro/E, and LabVIEW Experience with space hardware development lifecycle
