The Tactical Applications team is searching for a Software Engineering intern student to join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to support airborne platforms across multiple programs. Candidates will be expected to independently perform multiple tasks while given support from a mentor. The position will require the development and verification of software. The primary tasks include modifying existing, or creating new requirements, implementing SW for a real-time embedded processing environment, running functional tests in a laboratory test environment utilizing a combination of; simulations, real hardware, and interfacing subsystems. Knowledge of the Python language or the ability to pick this skill up quickly is essential.

The intern experience will cover a variety of tasks including but not limited to: Software design, software coding, software integration, regression test, formal test execution and documentation for software in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts. Perform in a cross-functional agile team to complete integration, verification and validation. The candidate will perform these assignments in close coordination with other system and software engineers using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.

The applicant will be part of a team that supports the 160th Special Operations Air Regiment customer and similar rotary wing programs that implement command and control software for complex mission sensors and weapons systems embedded in the CAAS helicopter cockpits.

We are targeting a driven individual who is passionate about the aviation industry, strives to challenge and apply their abilities, and desires to work with a team to produce superior quality software. Candidate should be self-motivated and willing to work and learn in a fast paced environment as part of a dynamic subsystem development team. Ideally the candidate should be experienced in all facets of system development and familiar with common system engineering tools and practices.

Qualifications:

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM program including Computer/Software/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering

The candidate must have working experience with C, C++, ADA

Experience with scripting language Python or similar programming languages desired.

Must be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
