Our Client: Our client is based in Saudi Arabia, this is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and tax free environment, we have been asked to source suitable applicants that suit the role of Software Engineer Main activities: Responsible to the Director of Aeronautical Engineering to provide day to day advice to our client on matters pertaining to Systems Engineering for their aircraft and support equipment. This role provides a primary point of contact for all Software Engineering issues.
·A working knowledge of international regulation and policy for military and civil aviation as well as International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
·Research, design and develop software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, for the operated aircraft and associated support equipment, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis.
·Analyse software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
·Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
·Work with other engineering disciplines and management team to collectively meet requirements.
·Coordinate with project work teams to ensure adherence to policies, achievement of quality targets and delivery on schedule milestones.
·Years of experience in applying subject or discipline knowledge in the design, development and management of aircraft software. In addition, experience in applying tools and techniques (for example, tool use, use of software packages or mainframe systems).
·Knowledge and experience of Computing and Programme Writing. A thorough understanding of general theories and applications covering a broad knowledge of the subject area is required. Excellent mathematical skills are also required.
·Experience in senior engineering management with a thorough knowledge of engineering authority processes. ·Progressive experience in design and development of aircraft software engineering projects required. Knowledge of software engineering applications of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) aircraft platforms, specifically the types of fighter, transport, rotatory, and/or unmanned aircraft systems.
·Must be able to develop and integrate concepts that involve requirements, design, prototyping, production, testing, training and logistics support in all phases of the weapon system life cycle, including all aspects of technical program that involve trade-off of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, supportability, testability and other engineering requirements.
·Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
·Strong leadership qualities with proven interpersonal and team working skills.
·Computer literate and an experienced user of the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project). . Job Accountabilities
·Work emanates from the Director of Aeronautical Engineering. The jobholder must plan for the involvement of other agencies from within the clients and its' associated programs. Responsive to customer inputs and requirements, both immediate and long term (circa 5 years) is an essential feature and the jobholder must rationalise all inputs and achieve maximum co-operation and support to be successful.
·The jobholder will be required to produce reports, testing procedures, programs, documentation, presentations and briefings in detail from data which he will be responsible for defining and collecting. He will be required to visit vendor facilities and client's bases to conduct research into software engineering issues.
·The jobholder is required to project manage software engineering modification projects.
·The jobholder will provide concurrent engineering support and advice across an extensive number of projects under rapidly changing requirements and priorities. The jobholder is required to act under his own initiative, developing a sound understanding of customer requirements, which are often not fully defined.
·A great deal of the success he achieves will be dictated by the relationships he establishes with customers and his ability to use his own initiative, engineering and management skills to satisfy requirements. Diplomacy, tact, flexibility and adaptability are required along with a flair for rapid and accurate appraisal of problems. The jobholder must always remain aware of the varied cultural and political nuances when dealing with customers from many nations.
·Support other Engineering groups as workload requirements dictate. Develop expertise on aircraft design concepts, industry design standards, regulations and drafting techniques consistent with workload environment.
·Develop system testing procedures and documentation to verify performance to specification requirements. Participate in the acceptance test of aircraft and equipment. ·Support client's officers at meetings and participate in design and programme management reviews.
·The jobholder is required to create original designs for software engineering solutions that demand imaginative innovation. ·The jobholder is required to be flexible to deal with a wide range of problems with rapidly changing priorities emanating from a number of different sources.
Ideal Candidate Background: ·Engineering Degree BEng (Hons) in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Industrial, and Aeronautical / Systems Engineering.
·Master's Degree or higher and Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
·A minimum of 10 years experience in aircraft and/or embedded software engineering.
