To deliver and manage the Material element of a production order book for Leonardo Helicopters ensuring successful milestones and aircraft deliveries are achieved within financial and working capital budgets.

Ensure that activities under their control are undertaken in accordance with the requirements as set out in the Health, Safety and Environment Operating Manual (HSEOM) and the procedures and guidance contained within.

Ensure that all personnel are competent and have the necessary to skills to achieve the Company, Department and personal objectives within their role.

You will be responsible for meeting your day to day tasks, producing your deliverables on time and at the right quality in order that the Aircraft Operations team can meet its objectives.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Leading and developing a team of material Co-ordinators based on the production lines of the Yeovil site and responsible for the provision of appropriate material solutions to mitigate issues which may impinge on customer on-time delivery and satisfaction.
  • Forge strong working relationships with customers, senior management & relevant stakeholders ensuring material delivery issues are well communicated and proposed solutions are discussed and managed appropriately.
  • Influencing and Managing key internal relationships with Procurement, Logistics provider, Programmes, Engineering and MRP. Ensuring priorities are set and managed in the material flow.
  • To lead, together with supporting functions responsible officers /team (Engineering, Material Planning, Logistics and Quality), production / "jig stopper" meetings, in order to solve criticalities.
  • Representing Material Delivery department at all customer reviews for your programme(s) and where required deputising for the Production Delivery Manager at other senior reviews.
  • Prioritise and allocate assets for productions within your own programme, where applicable, agree priorities with other managers which may result in assets being re-directed. In these cases ensure impact analysis is carried out and briefed to senior management.
  • Escalate appropriately material issues impacting build line to the Production Delivery Manager.
  • Identify all obstructing criticalities, highlighting them through the "escalation" process.
  • To lead weekly meetings for line progress for Departments / Plant order book in conjunction with requirement dates from the business.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • A degree (or equivalent applicable experience) in an Aerospace related subject.
  • A proven track record in driving cost reduction to increase profit opportunities.
  • The ability to interface and influence at senior level within the customer and industry domains.
  • Capable communicator both orally and in writing with refined interpersonal skills required, interfacing with all levels of industry and customer management structures.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and team working skills, required to form effective relationships with Customers, Prime contractor and Sub-Contractor networks.
  • Have developed problem solving techniques able to be applied in an operational environment.
  • In depth knowledge of the customers planning and operational methodologies, organisations and processes relating to material supply and inventory management.
  • Proven Leadership qualities.
