Description:The successful applicant will develop image processing capability and data collection strategy aligned with current and future needs across Space Systems Company's remote sensing portfolio. The candidate will perform scientific experiments, investigations, observations and related research studies into the nature and operation of natural phenomena in a particular field, using the scientific method. Candidate will develop theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and meaningful pattern for the benefit of project advancement and emerging technologies. Candidate may participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications. Candidate may coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts. Candidate will research, design, develop, and verify signal and image collection system requirements, and defines and develops processing and dissemination computer algorithms. Candidate will design, develop and analyze systems and algorithms for the extraction of information from signal and image sensors. Technologies applied include: remote sensing; detection and estimation theories; morphological processing; neural networks; and implementation of signal processing within advanced computer architectures. BS in an engineering discipline, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics
At least 14 years (12 years with an MS degree, 9 years with a PhD) experience processing optical and/or SAR imagery
Solid understanding of multiple image phenomenology and modalities such as EO, MSI, PI, IR, hyperspectral, LIDAR, SAR, or polarimetric SAR.
Experience with image calibration, formation, and exploitation
Experience in algorithm science, research, and development;
Subject matter expert in the simulation, processing, and characteristics of EO systems.
Experience developing and implementing in C++, Python, or Matlab
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Demonstrated excellent communication skills
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics Understanding of the full range of ISR techniques and background across multiple sensor platforms (EO, IR, RADAR).
Highly experienced in algorithm prototyping using Python, Matlab and C++
Experience developing and implementing change detection, 3D reconstruction, video moving object detection, tracking algorithms (e.g., ATR), Computer VisIon and Machine Learning.
Documentation of algorithms.
Ability to explain complicated concepts in a straight forward manner that can be understood by the non-expert in the form of a briefing.
