The position is primarily responsible for supporting forging and auxiliary operations in the Advanced Product Development Forge Shop. Responsibilities include working on die set-ups, billet spotting, fork truck and manipulator operation, press operation and other duties related to forging operations on the press. Duties will also include operating furnaces, performing heat treatment operations, band-saw and abrasive saw operations and general housekeeping. While these are the principal responsibilities of the position, the incumbent is expected to have the necessary skills and aptitude to also cross-train in other laboratory functions such as metallography and mechanical testing.

Develop and maintain good working knowledge of APD shop equipment and practices.

Skilled in operating shop equipment such as fork trucks and manipulators to meet process requirements.

Fast learner and be able to operate responsibly with minimal supervision when necessary.

Flexible worker willing to operate in an R&D environment with changing requirements and demands.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum High School diploma. 1-3 years of college or trade school will be considered a plus.
* Minimum of 10 years in an industrial or laboratory environment.
* Forklift license and skilled at handling industrial equipment.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
* It is important for the candidate to be versatile and willing to cross train in other areas.
* Mechanical aptitude is essential for success.
* Computer literacy and basic skill with office software such as spreadsheets and word processors.
* Good communication and teamwork skills to be successful in a small, cohesive team.
