This position is deployed to the Revolutionary Technology Programs (RTP) team to provide technical support/direction. Expected to support team’s performance on project related to the analysis, design, and testing of aerospace and plasma physics experiments. Primary responsibilities will involve design and construction of pulsed power electronics, control systems relating to power systems, and data acquisition electronics to support fusion plasma physics experiments. Normal activities will include test procedure writing, performing hardware test & fault isolation and leading troubleshooting operations in a small fast, moving team. Requires use of MS Office software tools to compile data, reduce data, and generate reports. Strong verbal and written communication skills are highly desirable. Occasional overtime and odd hours required. Candidate must be able to work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment, including wearing radiation safety badge. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance and be able to obtain, special access program clearances.

--Bachelors or above degree in a engineering or scientific discipline, including Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Science, Nuclear Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
--Experience in pulsed power or power systems design and fabrication and data acquisition systems design and implementation
--Experience with laboratory power equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, benchtop power supplies, LCR meters, and insulation testers.
--Experience in design and implementation of controlling power electronics.
--M.S. or Ph.D. in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with strong background in experimental pulsed power and power electronics systems
--Experience in design and fabrication of high voltage, high current, high energy, and high power systems
--Experience in utilizing energy storage devices such as batteries, ultra-capacitors, high voltage film capacitors, high current inductors, and electromagnets
--Experience in utilizing high power and high voltage semiconductors such as IGBTs, SCRs, and MOSFETs in power conversion
--Experience in utilizing high voltage and high power technologies such as spark gap switches, pulse transformers, high voltage relays
--Experience in utilizing high voltage and high current diagnostics such as high voltage probes, Rogowski coils, current transformers, hall effect transducers, and grounding rods
--Experience with power electronic based power conversion topologies such as buck converters, boost converters, full-bridge inverters, resonant converters, and rectifiers
--Experience with pulsed power supply power conversion topologies such as pulse forming networks, Marx generators, and linear transformer drivers
--Experience with design and analysis of high voltage personnel safety such as high voltage standoff requirements, grounding requirements, insulation testing, arc flash calculations, and grounding/discharge stick specifications
--Experience with control systems design and software implementation for power converters such as real-time controllers, FPGAs, PID control, stability analysis, and equipment protection devices
--Experience with data acquisition systems design and implementation including transmission line analysis, shielding design, grounding design, LabVIEW programming, and data processing
--Experience with electronics design such as digital and analog circuits and printed circuit board design software such as Eagle or Altium
--Proficient with mathematical analysis and modeling tools such as MathCAD, MATLAB, Simulink, SimPowerSystems, and LTSPICE
--Strong oral and written communication skills for interfacing with support organizations such as facilities and environmental health and safety, creating test plans and procedures for experiments, and presenting data to both technical and non-technical audiences
