SUMMARY

Identifying technical or product quality concerns and proposing technical solutions to aid in their remedy. Administering to daily technical issues; understanding the product end use and material constraints; defining internal requirements necessary to produce the product and addressing customer’s technical concerns.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Administer to daily technical issues as directed by the Manager for ensuring a consistent and reliable product.

• Define/approve process routes (items) necessary to meet the product, material, and end use property constraints.

• Maintain customer relationships via technical meetings and discussions as assigned.

• Ability to work with minimal guidance on cross-functional teams to investigate internal and customer concerns related to product quality.

• Investigate claims and process variances and document findings.

• Provide technical direction for new products and inquires.

• Provide technical support where appropriate to other areas of the organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

MS in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering with at least three years of relevant experience in the metals industry. Alternatively, BS in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering with 5-7 years of relevant experience in the metals industry. A thorough understanding of physical metallurgy as it applies to thermomechanical processing and properties of metals is also required.

SPECIAL SKILLS

The Sr. Process Engineer will have knowledge of the principles and practices of VIM/ESR/VAR melting, the ability to prepare written reports and correspondence as well as presentations to senior leadership, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Facility with standard data analysis tools and concepts for the interrogation of statistical process data will be critical for success in this role.

• Technical competence in physical metallurgy

• Ability to interact with and present technical information to customers

• Strong understanding of products and processes

• Ability to investigate and address customer concerns

• Strong communication skills with an ability to present to senior leadership team
