Description

As a leading worldwide provider of navigation devices and wearable technology, our focus is on developing, designing and supporting superior products. Our advanced technology promotes performance, safety and ease of use in every market we serve. That makes us an engineering and technology company with a keen focus on recruiting talent in those fields. But the same vertical integration business model that keeps all design and manufacturing processes in-house also gives us the incentive to hire top performers from different backgrounds, including operations, finance and accounting, information technology, sales, marketing and communications.

At Garmin, our aviation technology provides an industry-leading combination of performance, safety, quality, value, innovation and ease of operation to help our consumers get the most out of every hour they spend in the air. We're searching for a full time Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute advanced engineering skills and project planning for mechanical or electro-mechanical designs or systems for Garmin's aviation products.

At Garmin, our senior mechanical engineers create products that solve complex problems and make people’s lives safer, healthier and more enjoyable. Mechanical engineers have a lot of freedom when it comes to their day-to-day job. They work with electrical, industrial and process engineers to design better products that solve thermal, shielding, cosmetic, human factor and manufacturability issues. Whatever your passion – parts, products, design or project scope – you can find it at Garmin.

* Makes substantial contributions toward determination of project goal/objective feasibility
* Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced Mechanical Engineers (1 & 2) on technologies, cost analysis, design techniques and problem solving process
* Provides technical input to product development plans and concept documents
* Provides reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques
* Offers process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as required
* Applies good judgment in setting schedules and risk taking
* Exemplifies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively works to improve Garmin’s image and culture

Demonstrated knowledge and capability to use CAD software for completing complex mechanical designs and demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are also a must!

Candidates with electronics packaging design experience are preferred. Interest and/or passion in piloting or flying is a definite plus!
