Overview

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a Senior Manager, Product Acceptance - Assembly, Test and Support within the Quality & Mission Assurance function for our Canoga Park, California location.

The Senior Manager for Product Acceptance – Assembly, Test and Support will report directly to the Quality & Mission Assurance site lead for Canoga Park. The position will manage all aspects of product and process acceptance for assembly and test operations within the Strategic Fabrication Center (SFC). The Senior Manager position will provide leadership and direct oversight to a salary support team: manager, team leads, process engineers and hourly quality team members that support the following process areas; Assembly, Component Test Center (CTC), Electrical and Receiving Inspection. This position will also be responsible for process ownership of quality led process areas; Metrology and Calibration and Quality Data Control (QDC). The position works seamlessly with the site leaders in Operations, Supplier Management, Engineering and Program organizations to achieve the delivery of quality products on time and at cost. This position will provide oversight on the assembly floor to ensure adherence to the quality management system (QMS) and will partner and with extended Q&MA organization on project initiatives.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

40% - Coordinate, lead and provide direct oversight to the Product acceptance organization to achieve site’s annual operating plan (AOP). Interface with process senior peers and program leads on tactical and strategic initiatives to improve business performance and schedule and cost execution.

20% - Develop, align and execute QA resource and staffing plan to site plan, manage departmental operating budget and interface with program management on product acceptance issues. Oversee, coach and mentor management staff that lead QA owned process elements and floor support staff.

20% - Proactively address Quality Metrics to enable early detection of adverse trends and expeditiously resolve issues at the earliest possible point in the product life cycle. Champion root cause and corrective action. Support site level and program CAB’s and driving for systemic solutions.

20% - Implement proven tools (such as Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing techniques, etc.) to reduce cycle time, improve yield, and reduce QA associated costs. Assess and define required skills and development needs for the Quality Assurance function. Support ARBOS, the enterprise’s business operating system. Strong emphasis on inspection optimization.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and fourteen (14) years of direct experience in an assembly, test and manufacturing or production support environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous management and with progressive leadership experience required.

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

* Proven experience increasing company efficiencies and profitability.
* Strategic, financial and business result experiences.
* Experience in leading employees across multiple QA disciplines in a team environment.

* Customer savvy and ability to address and drive proactive action when required.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
