Daa is Irelands only semi-state mnc and is an entirely self-funded and commercial entity.

This role

We are looking to add someone to our highly collaborative Internal Audit team in daa. You will report directly to Group Head of Internal Audit and will work with all business units across the group. This role focuses on both financial and operational audits and will involve a significant amount of interaction in person with senior business unit leaders. You must be comfortable with these interactive elements of the job and have excellent communication skills, as well as having the technical qualifications and experience required in order to be suited to this role.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic professional with 1-3 years post qualification experience who is interested in developing a career with a growing organisation. Daa’s broad business base, across airport management, retail, property management, and consultancy, spanning different geographies, gives this role a diversity of business experience and the opportunity to work closely with and learn from the experienced senior teams managing the operations. It is also anticipated that there may be opportunities for progression internally within daa across the wider business for someone who comes in and performs well in this role.

Qualifications

Essential

* Qualified professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and professionally trained auditor with 1-3 years PQE
* Experience of leading audits of complex organisations with revenues of €20m + pa (per business unit)
* Strong organisational and follow up skills including the ability to handle competing priorities and meet all deadlines and commitments is a prerequisite
* Excellent interpersonal and project management skills with the stature to quickly command the confidence and respect of the senior management team. You will need the gravitas to challenge management constructively on established practices and policies as necessary

Preferred

* PQE gained outside of an audit practice would be advantageous
* Experience of auditing large construction projects would be an advantage
* Experience of using data analytics techniques and software such as ACL or IDEA is preferred
* Trained in the audit department of one of the Big4/Top 7 audit firms preferred but not essential

Responsibilities

* Develop a broad understanding of the different business processes and examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems of internal control across the various businesses
* Lead audit assignments and design audit programs in accordance with professional standards
* Prepare audit reports summarising audit results and making clear recommendations providing practical solutions to mitigate control gaps and improve operations
* Follow up and tracking of audit issues raised. Lead follow-up audits to ensure there has been remediation of issues identified
* Ensure audit work-papers comply with professional standards and are of standard that enable internal audit work to be readily leveraged by external auditors
* Assist in carrying out special investigations as requested by CEO or Audit Committee
* Work closely with the rest of the Group Internal Audit team - this is a small and highly collaborative team
* Role will encompass some but not extensive travel both domestic and international (circa 10 to 15% max)
