Senior Electrical Systems Engineer

Join a team that designs, develops and integrates highly complex systems for space within Honeywell Aerospace. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will be involved in every aspect of the systems life cycle; from the front end of business development through product end of life. Apply engineering knowledge, tools, and principals to develop systems for current space optical instrumentation hardware developments and on preparatory studies for new space optical and science instrumentation.

JOB ACTIVITIES
• Research and development and conceptual activities relating electronics for optical and science instrumentation
• Analysis and modeling of system performance
• System requirements analysis, functional/capability analysis, synthesis, and test definition
• Systems engineering documentation preparation and maintenance
• Coordinating activities between multi-disciplinary design teams
• Technical interactions with customers and subcontractors
• Leading design reviews

The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP clearance.

YOU MUST HAVE

* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Applied Science
* Electrical engineering experience (credit is given for advanced degrees in engineering or applied science)

WE VALUE

* Extensive experience in developing electrical systems for space, including:
* Space development life cycle events (Proposal, SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
* System level design and architecture for optical payloads/sensors
* Requirements development at the payload/sensor level and performing the necessary allocation to the lower subsystems/products
* Understanding of payload integration, interface/control electronics, and control system design
* Detailed knowledge of space payloads and missions to understand how changes in one part of a system impact the rest of the payload/sensor/spacecraft
* Knowledge of space environment impact on design (vibration, temperature, radiation, EMC, vacuum)
* Experience in any (ideally all) of the following fields: digital, analog, power systems
* Experience with data communication and control protocols including; CAN bus, SpaceWire, RS422/485, 1553, Ethernet, CCSDS and other military/space standards
* Experience working in a laboratory environment
* Experience with digital processing and control algorithms that can be applied to active feedback control of voltage and current sources
* Experience with circuit analysis including de-rating, logic compatibility, timing and signal integrity analysis
* Experience designing complex, high density printed boards for high reliability applications
* Hands on root-cause troubleshooting experience
* Demonstrated experience with requirement definition and evaluation, specification and design documentation, and schematic capture
* The demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with engineers, scientists, and technicians from multiple disciplines
* Experience with DOORs, SysML, Matlab, Simulink, or other computer aided engineering tools
* Experience with ground support equipment requirements development and design
* Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts
* Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, and who consistently take the initiative to get things done
* The ability to adapt as dictated by project changes
* The ability to simultaneously manage a variety of complicated tasks
* A results-oriented and structured problem-solving approach
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information across different levels of the organization and externally
