Our client, a world leader in aerospace technology, is recruiting a Satellite Wiring Engineer to join their Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) team

The role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly on flight & non-flight hardware
  • Carry out harness manufacturing activities as required
  • Perform soldering operations i.a.w ECSS-Q-ST-70-08C and ECSS-Q-ST-70-38C
  • Perform crimping operations i.a.w ECSS-Q-ST-70-26C
  • Work to be carried out to a professional standard that reflects the company’s high standing in the market place
  • Work to be carried out within the planned time constraints
  • Performing the following wiring related duties;
    • Soldering
    • Crimping
    • Looming
    • Surface mount
    • Braiding
    • Ensure compliance to ISO9001/EN9011 Quality Assurance standards
    • Equipment for delivery to be 100% complete, in good working and available as required
    • Storage and housekeeping to be of a standard that promotes a professional organisation, with all items stored in allocated and documented locations
    • Comply with Quality Management System of TAS while performing the work
    • Compliance with the provisions of Health and Safety legislation to assist in the maintenance of a safe workplace
    • Adherence to all relevant Risk Assessments
    • Maintain ESA qualification for ECSS-Q-ST-70-08C (Hand Soldering), ECSS-Q-ST-70-38C (Surface Mount), ECSS-Q-ST-70-28C (Repair and Modification) and ECSS-Q-ST-70-26C (Crimping)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Apprenticeship or formal training programme in wiring and manufacturing processes
  • Minimum 5 years relevant manufacturing experience which includes ESA soldering certification
  • Confident and capable with wiring work including the above tasks
  • Previous experience within the following industries;
    • Military
    • Aerospace
    • Defence
    • Space
    • Automotive

Principal Relationships:

  • The role will have the following internal interactions:
  • AIT Operations Manager for reporting
  • AIT Manager for overall supervision
  • Skill Lead for detailed hardware task supervision & mentoring
  • Project Manager for definition of work packages and detailed project oversight of task delivery
  • Other engineering teams supporting AIT activity
  • Quality Assurance Manager for quality related activities
