Instructional Systems Subject Matter Expert

A. MAJOR DUTIES

Performs duties for Air Force Institute of Technology
Logistics and Systems (AFIT/LS)

§
Performs analysis to determine which AFIT/LS
courses and/or portions of each course should be revised to provide smaller
chunks of information to increase learner retention as well as select portions
of the courses that may be used to determine competency of the individual
learner

§
Maintains, reviews, and provides guidance and
educational expertise in the development of course control documents such as
Specialty/Course Training Standards, Education Plans, Plans of Instruction, and
Lesson Plans

§
Provides guidance and educational expertise in
the development of learning objectives, measurement instruments, and student
instructional materials to ensure each supports adequately

§
Works closely with other Department Subject
Matter Experts to ensure appropriate content, delivery, methods of
measurements, and use of emergent technologies

§
Reviews and monitors course control documents,
student instructional materials, and measurement devices to ensure they are
free of errors, adequately measure objectives, conserve resources, and are
suitable for the target audience

§
Analyzes and interprets data and feedback
obtained through these programs and provides written recommendations to
leadership to improve mission effectiveness

B. FACTORS

1. Knowledge Required by the Position:

§
An earned Bachelor degree in Education or earned
degree with demonstrated teaching ability.
A Master’s degree in Education or higher is highly desirable.

§
Demonstrated professional knowledge with 6-15
years of specialized experience in instructional design, instructional
materials development, instructional program evaluation, staff/faculty
development, and test and measurement

§
Possess the ability to communicate clearly and
expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning academic,
administrative, and technical subject matters.

§
Demonstrated familiarity with AFIT organization
structure, research initiatives and processes, and points-of-contact is
desirable

§
Eligible to obtain a security clearance
background check investigation and possess a government common access card
(CAC).
