About the Role

This role is responsible for using advanced risk management frameworks to provide evidence based internal audits and investigations.  The role will undertake Audits and Investigations with a focus on identifying hazards, risks, root causes etc. and providing recommendations and guidance for action.

The role will work within a just culture framework, champion a positive safety culture and apply a continuous improvement philosophy.

About You 

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and skills: 

Essential:

  • Previous experience as an auditor and/or investigator.
  • Experience in health and safety in a medium sized business.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide clear and objective advice, and both make and assist with decisions about safety issues
  • Able to take a systems thinking approach combined with an ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Demonstrates an inquisitive, professional and rigorous approach to problem solving and risk identification .
  • Excellent time management and task organisational skills, with the ability to cope under pressure.
  • Coaching, influencing, pragmatic and proactive approach.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written skills; with the proven ability to write and present high quality professional audit / investigation reports.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and to exercise the highest degree of discretion.
  • Able to set high standards for own performance, demonstrate enthusiasm for the job and take responsibility for successfully completing tasks.
  • Knowledge of relevant software packages including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proactively identifies, recommends and supports operational improvements of processes and tools.

Desirable:

  • Qualified to undertake safety audits and investigations.  Qualifications potentially include - Aircraft Accident Investigation Certificate, relevant Auditor’s qualification (for example ISO 9001, SouthPac Auditors training). H&S investigation / audit qualification (e.g. NZ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Level 4).
  • Previous experience within the aviation industry.
  • Knowledge of the NZ CAA rules and requirements.
