R&D Technical Compliance Engineer Permanent Dorset
Our client is the south's largest off-site design and build contractor with over 50 years of experience in the rapid and risk-free delivery of high quality and bespoke modular buildings.They are currently seeking an R&D Technical Compliance Engineer.
The role of the R&D Technical Compliance Engineer is to manage the research, planning and delivery to agreed parameters across the business for R&D and Technical Compliance to current or new products and solutions. Working primarily with the design team and engaging across the key business functions including external specialist contractors to deliver technical excellence and compliance in a structured, collaborative and controlled manner.
The two main purposes of the role are to firstly manage the delivery of a structured Research & Development program to:
*Enhance the market offering
*Keep the product offering instep with industry standards, legislation and forward-looking developments
*Embrace Value Engineering
*Embrace Design for Manufacture and Assembly methodologies
*Consider Form, Fit, and Function in a holistic and considered way that adds value
*Be mindful of current limiting factors and offer up solutions that work within them or offer up a phased roadmap approach that resets the limiting factors
The ideal candidate will look after the Technical Compliance across the design team for the company's products and scheme specific building solutions. This compliance should embrace all statutory, regulatory, British Standard and UK Building Regulation requirements together with BOPAS and Construction Design & Management obligations. There is also a need to meet client specific performance in terms of Waste Minimisation (BREAM and DREAM)
Typical details to be able to demonstrate compliance with also take in:
*Design life and in-service use
*Passive Fire protection
In-depth understanding of Building Regulations.
Experienced and proficient user of AUTOCAD gained within a building/architectural/Framing environment, must be able to produce accurate drawings independently in a timely manner.
Ideally Degree level however HNC/HND will be considered with the right experience / Track Record or equivalent tertiary qualification.
Able to create clear and concise business case for R&D or project activity.
Building productive relationships with external parties (e.g. design houses, suppliers and research establishments)
Knowledge of Design Control Frameworks, able to disseminate concepts into actionable steps to drive design towards a new product or, product form, fit or function development
Proven problem-solving skills & ability to progress lots of tasks in parallel
Research & Development experience ideally designing steel framed or modular buildings would be a distinct advantage.
Knowledge of light steel construction highly desirable, particularly constraints of suppliers when considering sections.
Would need to understand the CDM Regulations and would benefit from having experience working as part of a BIM Level 2 environment.
