This Position is for an experienced (Level 3) Quality Specialist to support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense Program at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The Ground-based Midcourse Defense system is operationally capable to defend the homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks. This position requires the individual to perform work tasks in an operational missile defense complex or at operational interceptor launch facilities where system assets are subject to war fighter deployment. An operational missile field or an operational interceptor launch facility have significant inherent health and safety risks and individuals are required to train, understand, and observe extensive safety and process controls to help protect persons and equipment.

Position Responsibilities:

*

Leads/participates in multi-function, multi-site groups to develop company directives, policies, processes, procedures and metrics to assure program, contract, customer, regulatory requirements, international standards and working agreements are deployed.

*

Leads/participates in stakeholder analysis of process data, metrics, models and flows to identify root cause of complex problems and development and implementation of preventive or corrective actions.

*

Conducts/participates in research, compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics to continuously improve process capability.

*

Develops scope, schedule, plans and leads hardware, software and system level audits to determine compliance with quality management system standards, configuration assurance, related business, regulatory and customer requirements, and reports results to management.

*

Works under minimal direction and makes tactical decisions assuring process adherence and buy-offs.

*

Reviews and buys-off on material shipped or transferred to and from the site.

*

Understands and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, and concepts to both production flight hardware and in maintenance operations.

Position supports a 24/7 operation and is subject to various work shifts and schedules, to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Travel may be required to support Boeing Team at other locations and off-site training.

Must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, travel in a silo basket (Maximum load capacity of 300 lbs.), work in confined spaces and work in and around ordnance.

Position requires ability to perform manual labor inside or outside, throughout the year. Work may be in a variety of extreme weather conditions.

Qualifications

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

* More than 1 year of Work Order and Non Conformance tracking systems experience (e.g. Manufacturing Enterprise Systems (MES), System Application Processes (SAP), etc.)

* Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

* More than 3 years of experience in quality and/or corrective action.
* American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications in CQA, CQE or CQT.

* Experience analyzing data and generating metrics reports.

* Experience with gathering data and performing Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA)

* Experience in problem solving and improvement projects.

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's and typically 6 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
