Our client is looking for a can-do individual to challenge the norm and drive client requirements to a new level. Our client's innovative engineering capabilities and software tools are built based on established mechanical capabilities as rotating machinery experts. Their consultancy services have been developed to address specific challenges and their know-how is being adopted by leading OEMs and suppliers worldwide.

This role offers the chance to become part of a dynamic team working in the Project Management function supporting and facilitating our expert electro-mechanical design teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the overall Chief Engineer in delivery of a major initiative of strategic corporate importance.
  • Plan, commence, execute, supervise, and roundup assigned tasks within the overall project and programme delivery.
  • Take ownership and coordinate work packages which fall outside of Design team responsibility e.g. supplier management
  • Support preparation for Project Steering Board and External project governance cadence.
  • Responsible for the flow of information from the customer, Chief Engineer and project owner to the team regarding the project, especially in relation to communication of changes and management of technical issues
  • Provide visibility of metrics to facilitate the handoff from design to procurement e.g. Released bill of material. Maintain a drumbeat for on-time delivery.
  • Proactively identify risks before they become issues and maintain the project risk register and actions tracker in support of the overall programme plan
  • Be in regular contact with the team and ensure that each member is given an opportunity to make suggestions regarding the executions of the project. Be an active listener for the well being of the project team members.
  • Support evolution of project delivery tools to support engineering delivery efficiency gains and process improvements.
  • Proactively suggest strategies of achieving and exceeding the project goals to enhance Quality, Cost and Timeliness of delivery.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Trained in AGILE or PRINCE2 project delivery methodology at Practitioner level
  • Willingness to take on further Project Management functional training. E.g. APMP
  • Mechanical engineering, degree qualified at Masters level
  • Intermediate Excel user, VBA programming and automation of macros
  • Positive outlook. Able to see scope change and risk mitigation proactively as an opportunity for a better project outcome for the Customer or internal Team

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Can do, positive mental attitude.
  • Hands on expert in data management and training teams in use of project management process tools
  • Aerospace domain delivery experience gained with global OEM or Tier 1.
  • Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI) process and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for aerospace and automotive industries
  • Expert and clear communicator in written and spoken form
  • Diligence and methodical approach to completeness of tasks. An engineer's eye for details.
