The Project Management Co-Op position will provide project management support to Delta's Continuous Improvement & Strategy group at JFK Airport. Projects typically involve capital projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, productivity, and performance. The co-op will support large and complex ad-hoc projects containing highly confidential material and moderate financial risk. All project work is summarized in written reports and presented to leaders and/or project sponsors. Additional responsibilities include participation in database management efforts that include updating internal SharePoint site, as well as Six Sigma/Project management documents. Some travel may be required outside of the NYC area. Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operations processes and procedures.
The Project Management Co-Op position requires that a candidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or other relevant degree with an emphasis in Information Systems, Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Process Improvement, Management Systems, and/or Applied Statistics. Candidate must have at least 3 work semesters available. Completion or pursuit of Probability and/or Statistics, Six Sigma and/or Continuous Improvement courses desired. Should have an understanding of contemporary industrial engineering methods including work measurement, simulation, facility design, process design, engineering economy, decision analysis, and Six Sigma/Lean techniques. Candidate must possess strong technical skills; with an emphasis on Excel, SQL, SAS, creating datasets, database querying and report development tools (SAS, Tableau, Hyperion, or other relevant data extraction tools) skill strongly preferred. Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressure. Candidate must convey professional image to all levels of associates. Strong written and verbal communication skills highly preferred. Should be proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel, Project, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be willing to travel as required.
