This is an entry-level position that operates sewing machines and other upholstery tools to assemble aircraft products for Specialty Seating Systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

* It is expected that the employee performs these and any other activities which may be assigned or which may occur in the normal course of work.
* It is also expected that the employee be available to work hours in excess of 40 per week.
* Operates sewing machines to assemble aircraft products
* Operates hand cutters
* Interfaces with all manufacturing personnel as required
* Ensures quality product utilizing UTAS quality procedures
* Provides continuous improvement ideas in order to support lean and ACE initiatives
* Audits work area for safety compliance
* Takes an active role to ensure EHS standards and procedures are met and complied with
* Adheres to all UTAS rules and codes of conduct
* Ensures quality product utilizing UTAS quality procedures
* Looks for ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace
* Provides continuous improvement ideas in order to support lean and ACE initiatives
* May perform other job duties as required and available for overtime as necessary

Qualification:
Basic Qualifications:

* Minimum of 1+ years upholstery experience required
* Must have good comprehension of English, and the ability to interpret written instructions
* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
* Able to distinguish stitch lengths
* Able to use electric cutters and scissors
* Understanding of quality procedures & related specifications
* Basic knowledge of how to read blueprints and apply to everyday tasks
* Follows instructions
* Multiple task oriented
* Able to work overtime & other jobs as needed

Education:
* High School Diploma
