Production Planner/Material Control Specialist

As a Production Planner , the successful candidate will play an instrumental role in q uantifying future demand and production planning across all product lines and c oordinating with procurement and production to facilitate the product plan. This position is in a fast paced environment and the successful candidate must be able to multi-task while meeting deadlines with timely deliverables.

You will demonstrate success by:

* Identifying and managing constraints within the value chain

* Setting priorities and coordinating activities across a functionally diverse team for success

* Multi-tasking multiple program requirements simultaneously

* Planning for procurement of all material components required to complete the job

* Ensuring that sufficient material is available to support production, while not procuring excessive inventory that will be prone to obsolescence

* Initiating and maintaining contact with vendors for timely delivery of components

* Planning, preparing, issuing and controlling material according to program and production schedules

* Coordinating material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements

* Advising management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems

* Ensuring materials and services are provided as needed

* Confirming material supply and demands

* Preparing work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements

* Coordinating interdepartmental activity across functional groups

* Scheduling and expediting the movement of parts across the entire supply chain, both internally and externally

* Attending program meetings and preparing material and work flow reports for Management

* Supporting department proposal requirements

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree required, and minimum 5 years related experience in Production Planning, working in team environment

* Experience with an MRP/ERP system and/or other software around production planning, forecasting and inventory management. Experience with Deltek CostPoint is a plus

* Experience in production planning using tools which optimize assets to increase productivity

* Experience working with Bills of Materials, product routings and financial tools

* Current SECRET Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one is required

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (proficiency in Excel is a must)
