Engages in production activities by repairing and overhauling aviationsheet metal components to include but not limited to: flightcontrol assemblies, doors,panels and any other sheetmetal components authorized under our FAA license.
The incumbent is responsible to service, troubleshoot, repair and inspectsheet metal components to comply with airworthiness standards. And, be part of our elite team to supportthe Component Servicesbusiness.
Major functions: The essential functionsinclude, but are not limitedto, the following duties. Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limitedto, the following tasks. These tasksmay be amended or other tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Personally assesses, repairs,rebuilds, inspects, and brings sheetmetal component backto their original“like new” condition
Assist in troubleshooting system malfunctions to formulate corrective actions.
Insures compliance with Service Bulletins, Instructions and Airworthiness Directives.
Complies with safety and tool controlprogram requirements.
Ensures materials issued for assignedtasks are the correct items to repairthe problem.
Provides on-the-job training to new employees as required by Crew Chief.
Exhibits positivecourteous behavior with customers businesses and coworkers.
Assists coworkers and those in other departments to successfully performjob tasks and functions when necessary.
Follows all safety procedures and practices as established by the Companyand regulatory bodies.
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Incumbent performs otherjob-related tasks as assigned and required; any duties/tasks includedin the employee's performance evaluation elements are essential to that employee's position within the job classification.
Technical/Functional skills:The following skillsand abilities are required:
MUST have Experience in repairing and overhauling .016 to.100 metal skins;
Ability to repair/overhaul components in a Jig fixture;
Repair airframecomponents and assemblies using technical manuals,service bulletins, blue print and other approved data;
Ability to read precision measuringtools and instruments;
Locate and mark dimension and reference lineson defective or replacement parts,using templates, scribe,compass, and steelrule;
Communicate with other workers to fit and align heavy parts or expedite processing of repair parts;
Repair or fabricatedefective sections or parts, using metal fabricating machines, saws, brakes,sheers, and grinders;
Understanding and using the English languageboth oral and written to communicate information or ideas to another person or persons;
reading and interpreting documents such as safetyrules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
adding, subtracting, multiplying and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,common fractions and decimals;
interpretinga variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form;planning and organizing;
creating, entering, retrieving and printing from current softwarepackages such as; Excel and Word;
demonstratingproblem analysis and independent decisionmaking;
recognizing or identifying the existence of a problemas well as elements of a problem;
be skilled in the use of sheetmetal hand toolsi.e. rivet guns, drills and grinders;
interpreting drawings and specifications of components; Education/Experience/Licenses etc.:
Graduation from a standard four (4) year high schoolor equivalent (GED) with five (5) years of experience in work directly-related to repairof sheet metal components for fixed wing aircraft.
